ParticipantRe: amica appliaces
hi jim merry xmas
i was getting worried thanks for the reply
the problem I’m having is competing for repair and sales with argos
coop
the majority of people in my catchment area are dedicated hotpoint users.
i can give a quote to refurb and even give them a very long warranty
but they compare this with the cheap things on the market so I’m loosing out on a repair or a sale.
i quote for a simple brush change or pump door energizer.
and i get i can buy a new one Penny’s even worse with dryers new vented
for £68.00
or the classier models for £80.
i also supply zanussi tricity bendix whirpool which are really good quality
but its competing with the lower end of the market.

ParticipantRe: warranty reg haier
iv maneged to find a warrenty dealer but he is 237 miles away
by the cost of the fuel to day!
it would be cheaper for haier to send 4 units free rather than an enginer!
comet price £220 and there selling
il look forward to writing a review 😆 🙂 🙂 how long i dont know 8) 8garn

ParticipantRe: Renting Appliances
its a good idea if you can get 20 units out there the figures are really good
over 2 & 3 year contracts students & disabled tend to hire a lot
so do hospital staff IE doctors there always on the move every 10 months
basic appliance’s are best IE hotpoint creda spares are reasonable and it doesnt take long if you had to refurb the whole unit.IE wm wma seres
bendix are very good to no calls on them.garn
ParticipantTHANKS MATE

iadom wrote:To replace the original metal air duct with the plastic one you need a complete drum and duct kit. That includes a new drum and all the other parts required including, new fan, back panel, stats, filter and all seals. You cannot just fit the plastic duct.
Kit is part number 1702495.
170236 does not appear to be a valid part number.
Jim.
NB. You would be better served if you are in the trade if you apply for trade access. 😉

Alex wrote:Capacitor used to play up, but then you would get a poor wash, and failure to ramp into spin. Think it was 16mf
Also watch for overfilling, then the water would not evacuate enough before spin, and the drum would send the water around in a vortex, and would not drain properly. Water level on Cottons 1″ up the front plastic door inner, on delicates halfway between the lip of the door seal and the centre of the door handle.

ok thanks for the info
il check it outgarn
ParticipantAlex wrote:Where did 50 odd years come from? If you give me the serial number, on a silver palate at the rear just below the tub breather pipe, I can date it to the month.
Electra GL2 500 spin, was sold through the Electricity Boards 1974 to 1977, made by Zanussi along with the 300 spin GL1. The bearings on those was bigger than the present day ones on the 1,000 spin machine.
Prior to that was the L1 & L2 1972 to Oct 1794. These were eventually replaced by the Hoover Electra A3E02 range. No Electra ones were the DL range.
How come it needs brushes is beyond me, they used an induction motor?
Zanussi only entered the uk in the mid 60’s, but was badged Imperial.

thanks alex
