ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WMA63 burning smell
For £120, I do the ‘Goatboy’ update for my customers, which I think will make the next set of bearings last alot longer than new bearings with the Hotpoint updates. 😉
And of course, the level of service from an indepent, is always better than the level of service you get with Herloni!

ParticipantRe: Another joke.
A blind man enters a Ladies Bar by mistake. He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a drink. After sitting there for a while, he yells to the bartender, “Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?”
The bar immediately falls absolutely quiet. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says, “Before you tell that joke sir, I think it is just fair – giving that you are blind that you should know five things:
1 – The bartender is a blonde girl.
2 – The bouncer is a blonde girl.
3 – I’m a 6 feet tall, 220 lb. blonde woman with a black belt in karate.
4 – The woman sitting next to me is blonde and is a professional weight lifter.
5 – The lady to your right is a blonde and is a professional wrestler. Now think about it seriously Mister. Do you still wanna tell that joke?
The blind man thinks for a second, shakes his head, and declares, “Nah, not if I’m gonna have to explain it five times”.

stephen66 wrote:Also Hotpoint say they’ll do it there and then, the local repairers want to take it away for a couple of days to do.
But Merloni (Hotpoint) might take a week or two to get to you, IME.
stephen66 wrote:It only plays up on the cotton spin. Presumably the lower spins do not put such a strain on the bearings, so this is an early warning.
Indeed. If I was you, I’d give the job to the local guy, rather than the big evil coperation 😉 But I would say that, I’m a local guy 😛

Nope 🙁
Maybe the guy you bought it off, used it more than he said?

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFL2260 bearings
If all four feet aren’t firm on a solid floor, making the machine level, then the all the stress during the final spin, won’t be exerted in the right places.
Whenever I’ve seen premature bearing failure on a plastic tub Bosch, that’s been the common factor.

The bearings could go faulty prematurely, if the machine was installed incorrectly. 🙁
That drum is normally pretty reliable!

Meh, most people just won’t spend the money on vacuum repair.* And I persume that most people won’t do call-outs for them, and just fix what get brought to them.
*On Friday a lady brought me a broken (£200) Dyson. I told her I could repair it for £30 +VAT, with a service. She went nuts!
‘OK’ I said, £20 +VAT without a service. She walked out ❓
