So after looking through the parts diagram I basically found there was 2 thermistors. 1 sits above the heater, the other in the front duct down by the filter.

there are also the moisture sensor bars at the front of the drum and thermostats above the heater.

I managed to find a service manual for a older Bosch vented dryer which basically explains that the filter light is caused when there is a temperature difference between the airflow into the drum from the heater and what the thermistor in the filter duct reads.

After testing both NTC’s with the multimeter and heating them up a bit both had values within the range I would expect and within the resistance range shown in the service manual.

despite this I ordered both NTC’s changed them both and it’s sorted the issue. The only thing I can think of is that once a certain temperature is reached one of the NTC’s is failing and giving wrong readings.

Machine is like new, condenser is spotless as is the door filter.

It varies to be honest sometimes at the start of the dry cycle other times maybe halfway through, sometimes it’s F53 others it’s F12

Sounds like the power management. On some hobs you can adjust how much power the hob draws to suit different installations I.e 13A, 16A etc. unfortunately on yours this does not look like it be adjusted.

refer to page 11 in the instructions under heading 5.8 power management, it explains it better there.

Thanks for the advice, as Dave said tacho strangely appeared to be going open circuit after it had been running for a bit. New tacho fitted and all seems ok at the moment.

I’ve ordered a new one for mine today – fingers crossed I don’t need to modify it

    Kind Regards

did you manage to fit it and if so have you had any leaks since?

Had the heat pump off, can’t see anything in there blocking it and if I get a screwdriver into it and turn the impeller it turns freely so unfortunately I don’t think it’s that. Do you know if it’s possible to access a service manual for this machine or a similar model? Would be interesting to see what info they give in there if any.

Are there any further suggestions worth trying? Would it be worth getting a new heat pump and trying it despite it appearing to wash fine? Looking online there seems to be nothing documented about this specific fault as such.

New drain pump came in a box with a white sticker that says original and the part number.

Right so the drain pump was indeed part number 00631200 bought direct from the Bosch parts site. If I drain the water myself manually and run a program the drain pump kicks up and sounds normal, then it sounds like you said the heat pump motor runs then ramps up and stops. The machine then fills and washes but won’t drain. The PCB could very well be faulty but it seems too coincidental that it would have the exact same fault as my original.

If the heat pump was faulty and somehow not sensing the water in the tank would it still wash?

I’ve had the sump pipe of underneath and poked the non return valve and it seems to move and open freely and there’s nothing obstructing it.

I do have the waste pipe extended as the dishwasher is a couple of units away from the sink. I have had it like this for 3/4 years since it was fitted but I did take this extension apart and try and drain it into a bucket to eliminate this being the problem and it still won’t pump it out.

I also disconnected the sump pipe from where it goes into the plastic tank at the side, held the pipe into a bucket to make sure there was nothing after that blocking it but it still won’t drain just trickles out 3/4 times as the pump attempts to kick in.

Hi Dave, have already put a new pump on and did the same thing. I should’ve said both my machine and the donor machine on eBay are SMV40C30GB/41’s. Don’t want to replace the dishwasher as it’s not very old but can’t think of what else could be wrong with it at this point and now I’ve become so invested in it really want to find out what’s wrong with it for my own sanity.

Hi, sorry yes the middle double brown wire is supposed to be connected to the bottom terminal next to the orange and yellow.

Those were also the 2 I connected together. Would this be right?

That would be very helpful. https://ibb.co/xFpTVbq

When I tried it I used a double space connector and connected the 2 wires that go in and out of the relay together however from what you’ve said I think that might be wrong.
