According to that site my upgrade happened in May and maybe thats why my speeds have improved, Would have been nice if they informed me though 😉 : . 20mgb!, Thats going to cause a bit of a price war with the competition, But hey ho who needs Sky 1 & 2 Anyway 😀 😀 😀

    Hi Jim
Just thought I would let you know that I have just upgraded my PC to a Duel core 4.2 Athlon with a gig of ram and the speed tests are now showing 9.5Mbs 😀 Have Been doing some file downloads for drivers etc and reached speeds of 1.5Mb a sec, So it seems that the power of the PC does makes a difference to overall download speeds

I think I have answered my own question on this on. After having a look at the stat it seems to be a One Shot device so going back to check water circulation.

    Re: Hotpoint Close Blythe Bridge?

Real shame to hear this news 🙁 As a boy engineer of 19 I did most of my product training at Blyth Bridge, Good bunch of people worked there and the trainers really believed in the product they made, Even the dreaded Electricair warm air units and one of the first Microwaves sold in the UK. Just yesterday I repaired a Belling oven made at Blythe Bridge but as from now it look like all Merloni cooking appliance will be Italian, Hope they still use the famous 023884 element 😉 .

Just remembered the one I repaired the module on did exactly the same. Found that the small connection to the water sensor on the left hand side needed drying and tightening a bit. All in all a pig of a job but as I had already fitted a motor I was not going to give up.

Simon, Have seen this before but managed to re solder the wire from the blown motor connector back on to the PCB. Good option as the boards are not cheap.

    Re: spain

Tony, I was talking to a guy who has lived in Spain for 10 years and was back to visit family, Asked the same question and he told me that its totally different there, as if someones washing machine breaks down they tend to call the local electric company , who deliver a new machine and add the cost to the electric bill; Not much repair work at all. If you could take up Air/Con repairs it would be a different matter as its very big in Spain at the moment and there is a shortage of skilled A/C engineers. If I were 10 years younger I would have looked to get retrained myself.

Chris you are spot on with this one, I meant to post about it a couple of weeks ago. Called to a rented property for an agent recently and The Tennant was complaining of leaking from the soap drawer, As it happened the Tennant had pulled the drawer front off and when filling water was Pouring down the front of the drawer, removed the green plastic thing and the leaking stopped immediately, Put it back and the leak started again. Over the years I have been to dozens of Whirlpool machines with this fault and never really did find the cause
