ModeratorDifficult to answer tbh, not a fault I have ever encountered. I would still suspect an electronic failure rather than the motor but both of the pcb’s would need to be examined by someone who has board/component level knowledge and test equipment. There is also an outside possibility that there is an overload device inside the motor that could be cutting out under heavy load, looking at the wiring diagram does not show a TOC but it’s likely that one is built into the motor. Unfortunately either pcb or the motor are far to expensive to change in the hope they will cure the problem.:(

ModeratorI’ll keep an eye out for anymore.

ModeratorSorry, I was in such a hurry to blitz both massive posts that I didn’t clock it, just thought you may be able to find the posts I deleted.:(

ModeratorJust deleted two posts advertising dodgy banknotes. Not sure if you can check it out and zap the poster Ken.

ModeratorI have sent you a direct message, let me have an email address and I will send you some info.

ModeratorThis machine uses a 3 phase induction motor so doesn’t have the large capacitors that basic induction motors use. It has a large 3 phase inverter board/pcb in the base to control the motor. There are some basic test routines that you could try. I will send you a private message. I would suspect electronic failure rather than the motor itself tbh.

ModeratorWhat make of machine and model is it? Some bearing kits come with the correct grease in a small container and some seals can come with a coating of grease already applied. Neither of the above mentioned is resistant to detergents.;)

ModeratorGiven its age and the diffculties you will face trying to obtain any parts for it that may well be the best option.

ModeratorI would see if it has those two wash option buttons I mentioned first, if it has those buttons hold them in for a few seconds and it should reset. Are you getting F in the display?
iadom
ModeratorJust checked on the free standing models and the two buttons used for a reset are the Normal 65C wash and the Delicate 40C wash buttons.

ModeratorI’m going from a long time ago but I seem to remember the reset function on the free standing Bosch based dishwasher was activated by pressing two buttons simultaneously. From memory there was a small dot under the two relevant buttons, look and see if there are similar markings on this machine. Also make sure that there is enough water in the tub to activate the main motor, usually at least an inch of water.

ModeratorNearest manual I can find is a BF72, can you confirm this machine is a built in appliance?

ModeratorThere is a sequence to cancel and reset, can’t remember exactly what it is now, try holding the start button in for 5 to 10 seconds. Don’t suppose you still have the original user instructions? Basically there are only three things that can buzz/hum. The drain pump, fill valve and main circulation pump. Whenever you start any programme the very first thing that should activate is the drain pump. After a short period of around 15 to 30 seconds the fill valve should allow the water in to fill to correct level then the main circulation pump should start

ModeratorIf you cancel the programme then start again does it drain the water out?
iadom
ModeratorIf it doesn’t start to wash after you have filled it manually and just makes a buzzing noise that points to a rare but not unheard of main motor problem. If so it is BER (beyond economic repair). If it drains out correctly after trying it with water in that would confirm the drain pump is OK. I’m a bit out of the loop regarding current dishwasher reliability etc, BSH appliances don’t seem to have the same reputation for quality they once had though. Trade member Don is the man to ask on that front.
