There is something in this, but due to the nature of my sources I cannot comment further. 😉

It is only a suggestion but always allow the door interlock to release after cancelling a program and then select the programe and all the required options before pressing the start button again.
This wouldn’t account for the fact that Mrs Phipps left the machine overnight but was still unable to select Quick Wash the following day though Sean.

Panic over, being one of my more considerate customers she didn’t want to ring on a Sunday 🙂 .
She has just rung to say that she has managed to clear the problem and can now set Quick Wash again. I did mention that this was the second such complaint, in the first instance I assumed it was due to the customer only having had the machine a day or so and not being familiar with the machine.
In the second instance I realised that the customer had done something to cause this. She is not sure what she has done, I suspect trying to set Quick Wash after pressing Start button, but that is pure speculation unless we can replicate this on test.
In both cases I advised them to switch on, press SPC button to start the machine then press and hold SPC until the lights go out, switch off then back on, press and hold SPC button until lights go out again. This does seem to have cleared the fault but again I could be completely wide of the mark with this. 😕 ❓

No contact from Mrs Phipps, she promised to try my suggestions to clear the memory and get back to me if it worked.
Have I got the ‘official’ go ahead to call tomorrow afternoon. 😉

I take it that you are one of them, 😉

I just entered the text in the normal way, but I did accidentally catch the CAPS lock half way through but edited the few words in CAPITALS before I posted, just one of lifes little mysteries.

Went through all the possibles on the phone, she is fairly savvy and insists she was trying to set Quick Wash, on a normal 40° cottons wash as she has done several times before.
I have provisionally arranged to call on Monday afternoon but insisted that she contact ISE HQ first.
NB Ken, its Mrs Phipps. 🙂Test sheet would be most helpful.

Don’t think it was the firewall because I still had problems with it turned off. For some reason something in the text of my post caused it to choke. I may have inserted a subliminal message without realising it 😀
The strange thing is that it rejected the full post but when I added it bit by bit It was accepted. 😕

Well I have no idea what was going on there. Every time I tried to post that message I was barred. I had copied the message to the clipboard the first time it was rejected and kept trying to paste it back into a new thread without success.
I eventually tried again, this time I added just a few lines and found I could post. I then pasted the whole of my original message from the clipboard and it was rejected.
Then using Edit post and pasting a few lines at a time I eventually managed to submit the whole post.
To quote Marlon from the Perishers, ” the mind boggles” 😕 🙂

Ken, the problem seems to be if I try to add a new thread. I find that I can edit some of my earlier posts without any problems, it is only if I try to start a new thread that I get rejected.

Weird, still no joy. I have logged out and back in again and have never had a problem posting in either of the ISE forums before.
I wonder if last nights update to ZoneAlarm Pro is causing problems. ❓
Jim.
EDIT.
Very strange, I can post in all the other forums bar the ISE ones, with ZA running I just get a page saying Forbidden You do not have permission to access/modules.php on this server.
If I disable ZA I get an HTTP 403 error message. Need to see if anyone else is having problems posting to the ISE forums. ❓

Give the ‘Last Error Detected’ diagnostics test a try. Listed on page #3 of the Error codes thread at the top of this forum. Could be a motor overload/motor fault.

ModeratorRe: non gen spiders
Do you have a particular ‘spider’ in mind ?
Quite apart from being a poor fit I have seen one or two Hotpoint WM non gen spiders that have come adrift from the shaft, spinning loose and making a subsequent repair impossible on one of them. The pulley was jammed tight on the threaded shaft but you could not hold the drum to prevent the shaft from turning.
Never use non gen spiders, or bearings for that matter.

The earliest pecker which sits on the outside of the motor cannot be refitted to an FHP motor, still lots of them about round here.
