Full model number would be a help, 😉

Modification was from Date Code 40, so you do need the full kit to effect a proper repair.

ModeratorRe: Drum support failure… Do I win a prize?
Done one today, this one was only in three pieces, all bagged up and waiting for the next three. 🙂
This one does disprove the ‘low use’ thoery. This machine does 2 or 3 loads a day, Persil non Bio liquid.

If you don’t want the bloated, spyware laden Real Player you can always download a program called Real Alternative. it plays all ram files without the overbearing presence of Real Player.
As regards the on and on advert, I used to tell people they forgot to add, on and on the tip at the end of the advert.iadom

The dryer heating element is on top of the drum, encased in a metal ducting. The advice given in the link that Dave provided is spot on.
There has been a full modification of the whole of the dryer heater assembly on this machine. If you do not change it you will have persistant problems, changing the stat is not a cure, only a temporary fix. What is the Date Code (first two numbers of serial number) of your machine?

ModeratorRe: Hoover Ecologic Washer Drier Flooding Problem
Your age of machine may be a little out, 😉 Listed in pre 1993 manuals.
The pressure switch ( two different ones) are both 3 level switches, so if you blow gently into the hose you should hear 3 clicks under pressure, then three clicks on release of pressure. Although you say the hose is clear how is it fixed at its lower end. Is it connected to a plastic, egg shaped moulding at 6 o’clock on the outer drum backplate or does it go into a small plastic air bell inserted into the black rubber drain hose that goes between the drum and the pump. Blockages on either of these are very common, more so in the older egg shaped air bell. It is possible to clean out either configuration but often the amount of corrosion on the older type backplate can mean that this is only a temporary solution.

Thanks Chris, I did see loopey’s post last night but it was very late and I thought that I would sleep on it and PM him this morning.
When I saw his original post, I could not make any sense of it, so I first had a look at his other half dozen posts to see if I could get some idea of where he was coming from. I could find no mention of his modus operandi so phrased my question in the way I did. It had the desired effect because his next post was much clearer. In fact both Martin and myself thanked him for his input.
I have spoken to a couple of Hotpoint engineers and none have seen this fault so I am keeping an open mind for now.I did not see the post from WVM but it is not the type of response we need, glad you sorted it.
Jim.

Soft water is much nicer than that horrible scummy stuff you get elswhere. Just ask tropical fish. 🙂

Indesit and Hoover ones also go round here. Old type alloy backplates on Hotpoint and Hoover also rot through in this area.

Was that the Indesit with the soap dispensor under a flap on the top left hand side? I worked for Rumbelows for a fer weeks and delivered loads of them seem to remember the price at £59.Goose
One or two machines had that set up. the Hotpoint 1600/1830 models had a silver flap over the soap dispenser, top left, but they sold for more than £59.00

Martin wrote:Wouldn’t the schematic wiring diagram and programme sequence chart not show if it had a rinse hold facility or not? As Ken says, no-one uses it these days so probably not part of the ISE machine either 😉
It would if we had one, 😉
like Ken I only know of one or two people that actually use this, and I have not come across one customer round that has ever used time delay either.

ModeratorRe: Questions
A change to the manual is definately needed then, page 16 ‘troubleshooting’ says,
Pump does not drain
Check Rinse Hold button has not been selected in error.Perhaps I need to take some Tipex with me on installation calls and erase this error to save any confusion.
