    Re: Hoover Washer

As Martin suggests, heater down even if not a dead short can cause problems on these machines, very prone to leaks onto the element, check door seal for small holes at the top.

Did you try using System Restore, you need to go back about 3 weeks. My TDS is working fine now, although I have not risked putting Reader 7 back on yet.

That heating element will be unsafe to refit BTW. Agree with Martin, the front bearing doesn’t look to badly damaged and should drift out quite easily without collapsing. How well the seal will last with the alloy bearing housing in that state on the inside is anyones guess.

Dave, I have fully functioning TDS dvd, now that I have sorted the earlier problems with it. Is the PDF something extra?

Finally got the call to return to this dishwasher.

As I pulled the machine out I thought, ‘bingo’ badly kinked inlet hose, completely cutting of water supply, nice and simple but oh no 😥 .

As I mentioned in my first post, this machine pumps out as soon as a programme is selected and the on/off switch is depressed, even before you close the door.

Set the machine on and it starts to fill perfectly but it never gets enough water in to do a wash, the drain pump is still running. Base is bone dry, all internal hoses are clear, in fact the machine has hardly been used and has not had time to gunge up. Customer says it has never worked correctly. No float switch on these, I suspect a faulty safety level pressure switch (1526370-13/3) , some times the fill is intermittant, firing on and off as if there is a faulty contact. did manage to get enough water in for a wash and heat action by disconnecting the pump whilst it was filling.

Surely having no cold fill would not cause this problem Will try a safety level switch, any other suggestions, module perhaps ??

…..Mummy Mummy, Do they put up Christmas decorations in Vietnam?
Not usually. But I hear they might be hanging glitter this year!

    ……………………………………………………………………………………

First-year students at Medical School were receiving their first anatomy class with a real dead human body. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet.
The professor started the class by telling them, “In medicine, it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor: the first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the human body”
For an example, the professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the corpse, withdrew it and stuck it in his mouth. Go ahead and do the same thing, he told his students.
The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the butt of the dead body and sucking on it. When everyone finished, the professor looked at them and told them,
“The second most important quality is observation. I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger. Now learn to pay attention”

Phidom wrote:Hotpoint Ultima WM71-73 there is a spin test and a wet test. For spin test hold A & D keys down and press the On button then the start key. Wet test hold A & C down etc.

Just to add a bit of flesh to the bones. 😉

After doing the above the display will first show ’50°- Wet Test’.

    Test sequence is as follows.
    1. Fill cold for 40 secs no motor action
    2. Temp controlled filled to 50° with normal agitation at wash speed
    3. Pause for 20 secs
    4. Fill from fabric cond valve
    5. Four tumbles of normal action at wash speed
    6. Pump out for 40 secs, no agitation
    7. Pump out and spin at 1000 rpm for 30 secs
    8. Pump out and spin at 1200 rpm for 10 secs
    10 Stop.

    Important notice.

Allow the test programme to finish before switching off the appliance.
Failure to do this will result in the sequence running when the customer next tries to select a programme.
Pressing Cancel will also clear the test programme.

This will also work on Ulitma Washer Dryers such as WD71/3

When I get the time I will post a few more Hotpoint test programmes, but once again the squash court beckons. 🙂

just as an aside, I would never attempt a repair on a machine whilst still wearing my watch, 😉 😆 perhaps that is the ‘timer’ you meant. 😉

By timer, do you mean the control PCB ?

A thought has just occured to me, ( the old grey matter is a little slow in this cold weather) was I dreaming at Sibson, or did I hear Kevin say that the machine would have a ‘timer’, and that once we had moved 30,000 units ( not sure about that figure ) that we could gain control of the timer configuration etc. ❓ or perhaps my brain was addled by watching Cher the night before. 😀

Thanks to Sean & Rob for their early call, sorry I kept them waiting, I was unaware that they had sneaked up on me in the night 🙂 . First impressions are very favourable, would have liked a fast blow fuse to protect the module in view of the type of interlock being used but that is something we can no doubt work on when we sell enough to have more control over things. nice solid package, overall access very good. to all involved, I have a queue of customers ready and waiting.

It is contact 3 from the bottom up, I was counting from the other end until I saw the small number 1 on the board. sinlge blue wire to on/off switch, then onto mains filter.

Will check the filter, its one of those enclosed ones that includes the mains cable unfortunately.
