Yep, thats the one, thankfully it comes with all the inner bits on it, never changed one before. Only problem is that Hotpoint price is £36.26 +vat. Masterpart list it as £34.00, if I add vat + carriage it would not be worth it, I have used an alternative source.

    On a scale of 1 to 10 its an 11. 🙂

If you decide to have a go yourself, be sure to remove the mains plug and watch the cabinet edges, they are like razors.

DF21 is not a slimline model. DC21 is.

Whilst I understand your financial reasons, had you called in a reputable local independant you may not have expended all the money you have thus far. well over 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of these motors will repair with an armature and brushes, in fact the only GDA type motors that I have replaced in the past ten years have been when the customer has attempted a repair themselves and damaged the motor field coil, difficult to comment on yours without seeing the field coil. As regards the bearing change you have overcome the most difficult stage, the only thing to be careful of now is damaging the new bearings when fitting them into the drum.

If and when you do get this machine repaired or whenever you get a new one, make sure that you use a good quality detergent and do a regular 60° wash every week and a maintenance wash every couple of months using a small dose of detergent and the hottest wash 95° without clothes in. That will prevent the type of damage that your drum support has suffered.

NB. I don’t think myself or anyone has mentioned that you should also replace the black rubber drum seal, it will almost certainly leak if you do not, it is not an expensive part.

Turned out to be a small kink in the flexible circuit, 1602851 that is causing intermittant contact. Must have been damaged on factory assembly. Virtually impossible to see with the naked eye, never had to change one of these before which is suprising given how delicate they are.

    Re: wm61p Motor plug

it is perfectly safe and possible to fit the original plug if it is a Rast type, or the earlier flat plug, determine which two wires go to the tacho so as to make sure you have the plug the right way round, if need be snip of the small lugs to allow the plug to be pushed home. This advice was given by Jimbo 2207 ( I think thats his nickname) and I can confirm that it is correct.
The only time you need the new plug is if you are fitting this motor to a machine with the now very old ‘square’ plug with two banks of three terminals.

Thanks for the Fagor pdf.s Bob. I have saved them for the future. This machine does not, as far as I can see have an overfill microswitch, it has two pressure switches attached to a small plastic level control matrix on the right hand ( from front ) side. It is only just over 12 months old and although very similar to PNC911631001 it has some differences that are not on the 2005 TDS dvd.
I will keep you all informed as to my progress. 🙂

Interesting, I assume you mean the water softener unit, the water does appear to flow quite freely through the unit, when I disconnected the neutral to the drain pump it then filled to a normal level to allow a normal wash action. Would care homes be fitted with integrated dishwashers?

The reason why the drum pulley was a nightmare to get off, was the fact that it was cross threaded.

I just have to add that as this would appear to be the first time that this pulley has been removed from the shaft, it is the first time I have ever heard of a pulley being ‘cross threaded’ from new, and in well over 30 years working on these machines I must have removed many hundreds of them. The loctite applied can sometimes make them difficult to remove.

Edit..Without in any way wanting to appear rude, I never cease to be amazed at the lengths people go to without specialist knowledge, I have rarely fitted a complete motor to this type of machine for many years, new brushes or a replacement armature usually suffice.

I like to have a go at most things but I pride myself on knowing when to stop, when you are in a hole, stop digging.

The horror stories most of my esteemed colleagues and I could tell you about DIY repairs would make you step back and think twice, I have no idea of your chosen job/profession, but I wonder what your response would be to someone with no experience/qualifications attempting to do your job. 🙂

Due to the young age of these machines I don’t have a great deal of tech info on them yet . Completely different controls to WMA range with that awful Indesit module in the base.

One picture is of the alloy casing with the rear bearing removed, no pictures of main bearing removed.

That file you sent is on my TDS, but my copy is now acting the goat again, I have to keep removing the DVD and re inserting it to get the parts diagrams to load.

To be honest I don’t think my model is on the latest TDS disc (UK2005)

It only has two versions of PNC 911631001 not 002. There is nothing on TDS for an ESL4114 that looks like the controls on the one I have. Also some models on the DVD seem to have overflow switches in the base as well as two pressure switches and some don’t. I could not see one anywhere on this machine. Must say those four little balls in the sump, two of which are in the pressure chamber side of the sump look interesting though,
