    Re: Bosch WFL245SGB/04

Yes, I have that logged in my faves. I used it to ID the parts in the first place, Masterpart correctly gives the superceded number for the outer trim which you can order, it also gives the new number for the inner trim but lists it as NLA ( no longer available) or UNK ( unknown??) and comes up blank if you try to order it.

Just though it was me missing something.

Thanks Dave, Masterpart does refer to that 432074 number but listed it as UNK, whatever that means.

What is the cost of your BT 2 meg service with 50:1 contention compared to my Ntl 20:1 at £24.99 ?

Yep, run speed tests several times, cable works very well if the infrastructure is sound, and a 20 to 1 contention rate unlike ADSL which has a 50 to 1 rate in most cases.

Here you go, a copy of a quick speed test done a second ago.

    1st 128K took 547 ms = 239620 Bytes/sec = approx 1994 kbits/sec
    2nd 128K took 531 ms = 246840 Bytes/sec = approx 2054 kbits/sec
    3rd 128K took 531 ms = 246840 Bytes/sec = approx 2054 kbits/sec
    4th 128K took 532 ms = 246376 Bytes/sec = approx 2050 kbits/sec

In fact that is fractionally over 2 meg 🙂

I use Ntl for my broadband service, £24.99 per month for 2 meg, going up to 10 meg 😯 if I want it for £37.99 soon. Some areas do have problems with Ntl due to the difference in the quality of their networks, round here it was installed by Cable & Wireless so we have a good service.
I also have a Zen dial up account as a back up. been with them over 9 years, top class support, Their broadband service is always at or near the top of the tree in any survey .

These old manuals only have a theoretical diagram. Pink /White is shown as linked on or switched within the timer 3/5/7

    Brown/Black is shown as 19/23/21

    Hope that helps.

I can scan the diagram and e-mail it to you if you are still stuck.

    Jim.

Not easy to see in the manual, so even though it is a Sunday night, I have opened my toolbox and dragged my own WMA63 out and had a look.

    plug with Black/Blue goes onto 1×11 . 🙂

    Re: Hotpoint 9318 Dryer

I had to dig deep for these,
Pink/White, Timer 3 to door switch
Blue, T 1 linked to one shot cut out, motor protector and mains neutral
    Brown/Black, T 17 to capacitor
    Red/Black, T 19 to capacitor
Red, T 9 to cycling stat

That info is from manuals 5400440 Issue 1 Dec 93 & Issue 2 July 95.
no mention of Pink only or Orange./Black in either manual.

Main problem I have heard is that many fail again within 12 months. this is not good for my street cred. Long live WM bearing/spider changes. Cheep, quick, long lasting and plenty of them!(At the moment)

Since they changed to the Rubena seal they do seem to be more reliable, I fitted a couple of the early type that did fail but had no problems with the later ones. If I can get away with just the rear half & drum seal they are one of my best earners.

    Re: home brew

I can honestly say that over the years, I have tried many home brewed beers, I have found them all without exception, awful.

Living in the poverty stricken, frozen North 😉 one consolation (amongst many others) is that we have some of the best beer in the country and at very sensible prices. Not worth wasting ones time on home brew,

Really good beer depends on the ingredients, one of which is spring water. the average tap water does not cut the mustard. Thats why I don’t drink Boddies anymore, not the same without the Strangeways water, and that appalling advert that that plays the Happy Mondays song but now just calls the beer the Cream, and not the Cream of Manchester really bugs me.

I have however had one or two very nice bottles of home made wine.

    Re: British gas

Only ever did one job for them, was paid 4 months later after numerous calls to various offices.
In fact the call in question shows up BG standards in a big way.

I was repairing a washer for a customer last year when her father in law, who is also a customer of mine asked me if I did cooker repairs, I replied that I did certain makes. He said that the Gas Board had been to his built in cooker and told him that the fan motor was faulty and it needed a new door seal, but as it was obsolete he should get rid of it. When I said I didn’t do gas appliances, he said its a Creda electric oven and I am on their Kitchen Cover plan. He gave me the model number and a description of the fault, he said that an internal fan kept running even after the cooker had been switched off for hours, and fiddling with the cooker control was the only way he could stop it. I said that it did not sound like a fan fault but I would check on Partfinder when I got home.

Partfinder revealed a model that was about 7 years old with all parts still available. I rang him back and told him this and that this particular model had two different fans and that visual inspection was required to identify. I advised him to contact the Gas Board and insist that they carry out the repairs, once again telling him that I did not think the fan motor was faulty.

A week later I got a call from someone from British Gas in Birmingham, I was expecting a complaint but was gobsmacked when the bloke on the phone asked me if I could give him the part numbers 😯 . After expressing my amazement at their incompetance I gave him the part numbers but again told him that I did not think the fan motor was faulty.

Two weeks later I got a phone call from the customer, “its about this cooker”, I told him that I had given all the details to BG, he said “I know, but they want you to do it, ring this phone number in Stockport and speak to Mr *********”.

The upshot is that I went along to inspect the cooker and found that it needed a door seal and that the upper stat that sits on top of the cabinet and keeps the cooling fan on until the appliance has cooled down, was the cause of the problem, it had short circuited. The fan motor was perfect.

Along with a Hotpoint tumble dryer that a BG engineer had left the front hanging off that I saw a few months ago, I can say that their domestic appliance engineers are worse than useless in this area. 👿

    Re: Indesit D63

Hartwig, What part of the world are you from, D63UK & D63SUK (the S is for silver colour) are the correct model numbers for the UK market. If you look closely at the rating plate on the machine you will find the full model and serial number somewhere. it is worth pointing out that several things can cause the timer to stick, quite apart from faults in the timer itself.

Plug out if you are going to dive in.
