    Re: PCB replacement??!!

Yep those were the days when Hotpoint were Hotpoint and they put some effort into build quality and customer service, sadly our Italian Indesit friends got hold of the company and the philosophy changed to build as many as you can as cheap as you can. Put 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} for sale and the rest make available as an exchange because sold ones are likely to need repairing.

Unfortunately some other manufacturers do the same. As to a replacement, it depends on your circumstances in my opinion. If you only have £200 to spend buy something budget from Argos or similar, it will most likely be a rebadged Vestel unit, will last about 2 years then throw it away.

£300-£400 puts you into Hoover/Zanussi/base Bosch range which will last a couple of years longer and be easier to DIY repair if it goes wrong.

Then your into the serious stuff made with quality in mind, easy to DIY repair when or rather if it goes wrong, with the ISE unit coming with a 10 year warranty as standard.

I would say budget £100-£120 per year you want it to last and then you can see that actually the ISE over the course if 10 years is really good value for money.

We don’t sell appliances so we don’t push any brand but speak from seeing most brands for repair and having the experience of dealing direct with the Aftersales Departments of those brands.

    Good Luck

    Re: PCB replacement??!!

It’s indesits way to prevent one off DIY repairers.

I believe indesits employees have a laptop capable of programming the pcb but this is not allowed outside of indesits.

For the rest of us we have to buy the card reader and one shot smart cards to achieve the desired goal.

As IADOM says, pay indesits fee or buy the tools and smart card to do the repair, either way its gonna cost around the same.

Of course when you come to replace the appliance you will remember this rip off and perhaps will consider more carefully which manufacturers help and which don’t.

    Good luck

    Dear Sirs

INDEPENDENT SERVICE (DOMESTIC APPLIANCES) LIMITED – IN ADMIN
    Alleged Balance Due: £XXXX:xx

We acknowledge receipt of your letter of the ENTER DATE.

Your clients, Ernst & Young were, on the 16th October 2012, advised in writing the debt claimed to be outstanding was completely and utterly disputed and refuted in its entirety.

It is your and your clients responsibility to prove the alleged debt exists, NOT our responsibility to disprove it. Your client, despite having the opportunity to demonstrate to us, how they believe the alleged debt to be came to be, have not and consequently the alleged debt remains fully disputed.

We have gained evidence your client has failed to account for payments made to Independent Service (Domestic Appliances) Limited, and additionally has failed to include contra payments on the account.

If forced into litigation we will request all evidence the alleged debt exists under Civil Procedure Rule Part 31 and request the original documents be proved at trial under Civil Procedures Rule Part 32.19; further we shall seek recovery of all our costs defending ourselves on an indemnity basis.

We will not enter into verbal communications and request all further communications be put in writing. We remain willing to resolve the matter amicably but will not be bullied by threats of litigation.

If we do not hear from you in writing with the evidence proving the alleged debt exists within the next 21 days and certainly by close of business Friday 4th January 2013, then we shall assume the matter to be closed.

We further advise we reserve the right to bring to the attention of the Court the contents of this communication should that become necessary.

    Yours

Squiggle Anything here BUT DO NOT SIGN IT WITH YOUR NAME

    NAME OF YOUR COMPANY

The purpose of this is to make them work to prove the debt with original documents, such documents will of course include the contra agreement within ISDALS terms and conditions. This then makes them deal with your invoices to offset the debt they owe.

It wont get you paid, but it will stop them hounding you for the debt they think is owed.

Providing original documents into court to be proved is always a hassel, its time consuming and leaves NO guarantee they will win.

If nothing else, it proves to any court that you tried to resolve it amicably should it get that far.

After 16 attempts to contact the letter writer by telephone and got fire walled by them, I sent this letter and suddenly they wanted to talk to me; strange that!

    Hope it helps.

    Re: repairs4you

Ok perhaps I come from a different perspective but here is what I see.

I have obtained a copy of the companies accounts which show the following:-

Company commenced business on the 1st February 2011 with the principle purpose of the business being the repair of computer equipment.

The companies account cover the period 1st February 2011 to 31st January 2012, in other words a FULL 12 month trading period.

The companies accounts show turnover for the FULL 12 month period to be £9327 (Thats Nine Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty Seven Pounds). Does that sound like a full on decent business or sound like a hobby, I know what I think.

The cost of Sales (Parts) amounted to £1224 so not a lot then.

Administrative costs (salaries, stationery, rent heating lighting etc.) amounted to £7937. Of which, if you read the notes which accompanied the accounts, you will notice involves payments to the sole director of £4000.

That leaves just £3937 to pay for everything else, staff salaries, web adverting space, rent on the property, which if you delve deeper into the interweby shows up as a 250 square foot run down, back street sh!te hole belonging to the local council whom seem to be using it as a dumping ground.

This all means the pre tax operating profit amounted to just £166 for the full year.

Taxation of £33 reduced this to just £133 for a FULL 12 months trading of this business. So from the accounts it makes a net profit margin of just 1.4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of turnover.

Other than money in the bank amount to £5628, the company according to its accounts has NO assets whatsoever, no stock, no debtors, no computers, no furniture, no nothing. Before you think well that’s £5628 cash in the bank, you need to consider the £5494 worth of debt the company already owes to its creditors leaving just £134 available.

If the sole Director is taking 43{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the turnover as his salary (£4000), how is he funding himself? Could you live on that sort of salary for a full time job? How is he funding his employees assuming he has any and if not, is he working this full time or as a hobby, how is he funding the property he is working from and how is he going to fund any expansion? I ask these questions because I cannot see how he can legally be doing it.

So now I look at how he wants you agents to work.

Basically, if I am reading your post correctly, he thinks he can diagnose over the phone the fault of the cooker. He then purchases the parts from someone and ships them to you as the agent so you can call to simply fit them.

You then turn up and fit them and once the unit is working the customer then pays him., When he gets the payment, he pays you same day.

To do this he would be better than any engineer I have ever encountered in 25 years of this trade. How many of you can diagnose EVERY repair over the telephone so you send just the right parts to the engineer? Not many. What happens when the reported fault is dead. It could be anything.

So now you turn up armed with a part that doesnt fix the customers fault. One presumes she isnt going to pay for that but if she is, send her my way would you!

So if he isnt being paid, are you going to be? I seriously doubt it, not by these guys anyway. Someone is fast going to run out of cash doing this, and this lot only had £133 after 12 months of trading.

My other man had a saying. If it looks like a fish, smells like a fish and tastes like a fish then its a FISH.

Given the above, to me this looks like a scam, smells like a scam and tastes like a scam. I certainly wouldn’t be extending credit to these guys and would want my fee up front of doing any work, not after if I were going to do this but its your choice.

Before going further I would suggest you get a look at their accounts or get a credit report on them before going further.

Their accounts make interesting reading and not in a good way.

0800 Repair IS THE SAME COMPANY AS JTM

Vestel also produced a range if ISE products and this is effectively the same unit as theirs.

Average quality for average price IMHO. Out if warranty repairs will be a problem as JTM don’t usually release them for cash repairs.
