    Re: PAYPAL CARD READER

There is a trial starting in the UK beginning of Sept which we are part of.

We haven’t received the kit yet but I will report back on it once we do as I am not yet sure if it will be Chip & Pin or just a card reader like the US version.

    Re: Seven Days A Week

We already offer this service to clients as well as specific timed calls (ie 10:30am) and early morning/late evening calls if the cust requests them.

Usually though, in fact each time we ask them for the £200 payment off their card up front for the service they suddenly find a AM or PM call during the week is perfectly sufficient and the 13 or so kids can find something else to wear.

    Strange that.

However I do think this is going to come sooner or later in the industry, there are few private sectors not involved in seven day a week operation these days and it’s difficult in today’s times not to be forced down that route, especially with the potential threat the loss of work to boot.

Once one starts all will be at it I am afraid.

I feel really sorry about the small one/two man units as this will hit them hard WHEN it occurs as I believe it will be that rather than IF it occurs.

    Regards to all

    Re: New Servis washing machines

Vestel bought the Servis name to use in the UK, approx 12 months ago.

It is a bog standard Vestel unit same as most other badged Vestel units available from many sources under many names.

    WS

A truly sad day indeed and one where the common decency of treating people like people seems to have escaped the Senior Management.

I pray one day they too find themselves in the very same position, so many of the hard working everyday Comet folk have found themselves in through no fault of their own.

Whilst never working as an employed person within Norweb or Comet, I and my company have enjoyed a very close relationship with the Service side of Comet and some very important friendships have been made.

I wish every member of Comet staff all the very best for the future and hope in particular I hope you, WS, continue to good the good work you do on here!

    Best regards

    K

Is this a free upgrade if the units are only 3 months old or still chargeable irrespective of age?

At £14 a pop it’s not a problem just curious more than anything.

Unfortunately Jim you just have to accept these days that there are people out there that are simply too stupid to be helped.

Sadly, if some of these people had a second brain cell it would die of loneliness before the end of the day.

    Re: Quinto

PG was in fact Network Service Director, as taken from his emails in January this year.

Quinto was Technical Service Manager, as taken from his emails in March this year.

Neil Parks is Technical Service Manager, as taken from his emails last week.

    So

mikeday0800 wrote:Pg was network service manager,

    isnt actually correct and

    mikeday0800 wrote:Quinto was technical manager

is interpretation and I suggest Technical Service Manager is correct after all given I have never come across a Technical Accounts Manager, or Technical Stationery Manager or such like, within the JTM organisation.

mikeday0800 wrote:Ms Bateman was well not really sure what she did.

Isn’t that the truth, never was sure what her role was but she seemed to cover for Quinto when he was out in the field or training engineers/contractors/franchises or on holiday.

mikeday0800 wrote:As of now Neil is the technical service manager for the midlands, PG is for the south and the north is vacant at this time. The roles are not office based like Quinto was.

Nor was Quinto’s he worked from home twice a week as well as being in Sheffield or on the road visiting agents, or do you mean both Neil and Paul are now required to also physically undertake repairs on appliances as well, wherein previously Quinto didnt undertake this particular role?

What part of Neil and Paul’s roles now do not encompass what was undertaken by Quinto previously?

mikeday0800 wrote:Now that there is no office based technical manager and no network service director the two roles have been joined and split into 3 regional managers.

Only they haven’t have they, by your own admission

mikeday0800 wrote:As of now Neil is the technical service manager for the Midlands, PG is for the south and the north is vacant at this time.

they don’t have 3 regional managers and haven’t for sometime. Of course that may change when the get the right person for the Northern Area .

So to conclude, Neil Parkes is doing an engineers job plus Quintos job in the Midlands; Paul Greenberg is doing the same in the South and the North appear to have no help at all until they can find someone to do an engineers job and Quintos job for the North.

Basically, when Quinto worked for them he was Technical Service Manager, to make the Technical Service Managers job redundant they are saying there is no need for Technical Service within the JTM organisation. This is untrue and is in fact still provided by currently two Technical Service Managers, namely Neil Parkes and Paul Greenberg.

It was the man made redundant not the job as I stated at the beginning.

Try thinking of it this way, when my local bank decide to make the cashiers redundant, it means I cannot go into the branch and see a cashier.

However, if they decide to make one or two of the cashiers redundant then they are making the person(s) redundant not the job of cashier redundant as the duties of those one or two cashiers are transferred and incorporated into the other cashiers workload. That is exactly what has happened here.

    Mike

You need to speak to Neil Parkes and Paul Greenberg, both of whom give the same story, which is as I state above.

Quinto was technical service manager and interestingly emails from both Neil Parkes and Paul Greenberg give the same job title which contradicts your posting.

Whilst Quinto was indeed made redundant along with Ms Bateman it would appear their respective jobs were not, although I understand significant salary reductions took place for the position.

Correct, he is now regional service / training manager @ Currys Know How.

Neil Parkes is his replacement at JTM, a very nice chap, whom knows how to look after agents/engineers.
