Martin, T F R. I console myself with the knowledge that everything in the house has now been washed. There is now a smile; I’m looking forward to dinner time!

Farmboy, T F R, I had a look under repairs, it seems there is no one nearby. The boss is getting very restive, I guess I shall bite the bullet!
I thank the moderators generally for running a really usefull service.Jaded

Penguin. T F R. To localise the faulty component, would a technician replace say the motor, and then the pcb?

Farmboy. Thanks for reply. I did check and yes there was. I screwed it firmly back into position. No change, machine still dangerous.

Will someone remind me, please, as to who the good company was. One of my sons requires some spare parts.

Gentlemen, thanks. I don’t mind paying out if I am reasonably confident of buying fair quality.

Folks.
The unit is still running, (new ‘stat working well). However, on past experience, it is bound to fail during the Christmas/N Y period! Using the Boy Scout principle, I would like to be prepared and know what to buy next. Would some of you knowlegeable people be prepared to advise on a replacement unit/manufacturer? please. 1 Apology.
2 I had never heard of such consumer sites.
3 Money; it started off at less than £20, but after phone calls, lots of recorded delivery letters, post, packing and insurance of returning the wrongly sent item, and then having to go to another supplier, the cost is probably somewhere between £40 – £50. The other supplier is associated with UK W G and the service was excellent. This is partly why I am so irritated; one rogue tarnishes many good.
As a last thought on the subject; I noticed last night that the initial letters of the company spell an appropriate word.

Thanks for your reply. I’m disappointed but that’s life.
You might be amused to know that this is the unit concerned in the saga of ‘Coolfreeze of Northampton’ etc under ‘parts enquiries’; so I have lost out all ways.

The new K54 you supplied is in, fitted ok, and seems to be working fine. Senior Management is pleased, which of course brings a number of fringe benefits. What a pity I saw the Coolfreeze web-site first. I’m still sore about them.

Thanks anyway. I understand the piece of string analogy but I hadn’t thought about the costs to come in the future in relation to scrapping.
You are aware of the thermostat problem I’m having. Well the unit is c7 yrs old and has been juddering on its mountings after switching off, and if Coolfreeze don’t answer their answerphone………..
Senior Management just doesn’t understand the problems we ‘techies’ have with life. -
