ParticipantNever understand why the Appliance Manufacturers and Kichen Manufacturers have not Standardisd the fitting of doors on intergrated products.. even when you fit like for like there is a difference We always advise our customers if they buy intergrated the might be a problem with out doors so we have a Kitchen Fitting Company that cuts door from our engineers measuerements, of course this incures an extra charge

Participantl think the manufacturers are the pits when you require any information on their products “NO NO” appliance manufacturers insist they know better leave everything to our prize guys they have forgotton most of what the average independant engineer have learned Yeah these so say manufacturers engineers only know the product they have so say been trained on and any information about their products is secret… Put up or Shut up ..Sorry to be so cynical here but l have been an appliance engineer since 1967 and have seen a lot of Hooray Henry’s in suits and wonder sometimes where are they now !!!!!! Retired probably…

ParticipantOf all the Hopoint /Idesit machines we have sold we have only come across one machine with a door lock problem , there was only burn damage to the plug connector the lock seemed OK but we changed the lock and rewired the lock wiring So all these fires taking place seem to be quite rare as far as our company has experianced

ParticipantNot very happy when News Pundit Alice Beer says on the TV News customers should get refunds from the retailers as they were sold faulty machines… We have sold many Hotpoint Indesit Products in the past years and now await the outcome from our customers l have only come across 1 machine out of warranty with a burnt out door interlock and connector !!!

ParticipantRe: DAG ( Domestic & General )
Nobody came back to my question on Sept 18th “Who are they using now?” as everybody l know locally say they are not doing any business with D&G So are they relying on the manufacturers ?? When you sell any Whirlpool/Hotpoint/Indesit Group for 10 year free parts registration it is D&G They always try and frighten the customers by advising that engineers visits are £110 call out if l register on behalf of customers l say “gosh that is really cheap !!” the telephone goes quite quiet and then they bid us goodbye l just love winding them up….

ParticipantRe: Qualtex Account Closure
Me finks they be having a hard time ,l reckon suddenly the turnover has been checked and hey its decreased as is every one else Never understand closing accounts as this trade is small dealers and we need every bit of business no matter how small……

ParticipantRe: Qualtex Account Closure
l think in these hard times that maybe Mr Qualtex and his staff have had a rethink on the fact that the dealers they have thrown out were of value to them after all….. l do not know anybody in their right mind getting rid of small accounts as they are the acorns for the future oaks

ParticipantRe: DAG ( Domestic & General )
l really hope members on here read the link as it sums up exactly how the men in suits think “we can do this cheaper with another engineer down the road”it has a nasty smell about the whole issue Hey Hey what happens when these companies use cheapo johnny and when he is no longer, what happens then… Still we have had 40 years of seeing the demise of the Domestic Appliance Servicing…and would never trust these so called experts in any Insurance Companies Still feel sorry the likes of Ancrum Electronics of Dundee though and any other dealerships demise

ParticipantRe: Brexit Stage Left…
This thread surely indicates that business is down at the moment, if you read ‘are you busy ‘ thread its all the same…. All Domestic Appliance customers in general are uneasy of the future so things are tight… Staying in the EU was not given a full agenda ,and good ol’ Dave got it wrong by having a referendum allowing us the general public having a say on such a complex issue ,and now with Mother May saying its gonna be good for us all, What a load of crap!!! but whats done is done, and now we are all going to pay these hikes, and have to put up with it….

ParticipantRe: Are you busy?
l think the key issues here are that we have to diversify our business as we can no longer rely on Domestic Appliance Service anymore , but the sixty four dollar question is ‘what do we diversify in’ Most High Streets are in demise and the internet is telling everybody how to repair their appliances etc also the likes of Connect and ESpares and others who will deal with anybody and his horse .With reference to ‘timdowning’ remarks there does seem to be a lot more effort to get very little !!
