Sounds like the start winding’s took a hammering due to the cap going down and just won’t take a load…replacement motor me thinks

    Taken from IEE safety guidlines:
Reasons to use a resistor and not a screwdriver to discharge capacitors:

It will not destroy screwdrivers and capacitor terminals.
It will not damage the capacitor (due to the current pulse). The pulse generated will almost certainly cause some break down of the dielectric and could cause capacitor failure.
It will reduce your customers stress level in not having to hear those scary snaps and crackles.

even using inde’s wash doctor you often got a fail if you have a spare blank eeprom try that. worst case unsolder the old eeprom from the duff board and solder it onto the new so your fitting a programmed eeprom done this many times with no probs

could well be the interlock thats faulty had lots of these metaflex locks that simply don’t disengage, any other fault unplug and leave for 5 mins it’ll open its only a thermal lock no pressure switch supply or motor cable. On the off chance its a new varient with immediate opening you can manually release using the pull rod under the kick plate but pretty sure this is the thermal delay type

pull off the dial with pliers then turn the soap cam ( the plastic wheel behind the dial ) until the holes in the soap cam line up with the screws you want to remove, use a magnetic screwdriver as it can be a bit tricky.

my first question would be why do you want to ? 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of problems on this series were related to failure of the main pcb located either under the lid screwed onto the rh side panel or at the bottom rhs again secured near the side panel, I’d look at this first. If you really want to take it out I think thats the one with 8 mm bolts go from the back or the worktop to the control panel, remove these from the rear of the worktop then remove the two torx screws securing the worktop to the rear panel. The worktop will lift off showing you the timer

yep better with a discharge resistor we always zapped them with insulated long nose pliers until I was told on a course this can and does damage the cap, not always but has the potential to. Also the chance of the plier insulation gettin torn in your tool box and you not noticing leaving you with a conductive surface to grip… funny how many things have changed safety wise over the last 20 years… mains neon testers, rolls of black tape…..

do a lot of dyson repairs and refurbs, in my humble opinion the best of the lot was the dc07 it all went downhill from there quality wise but even the 04’s and 07’s were really eager to give you a cloud of smoke when the carbons got low if you didnt catch it quick. All in all terrific design and performance but build quality and component quality is terrible throughout the range.

The early WMA’s from hotpoint did that if anyone replaced the motor and forgot to fit that black ” top hat ” thing they had on the rear mount, always wondered if that was due to someone making a hash of the size and throwing in a packing piece to make up the difference !

Just as a by-line, they were kinda prone to doing that if the PCB didnt detect level one on the P/S fairly quickly, possibly blocked inlet filter on the solenoid?

Take the selector out split it and clean the copper tracks and the contact springs that generally cures it if its only one cycle thats giving you grief. Just for ref tho. one flash ( F01) is shorted motor triac ) .Considering other cycles work this is obviously bollocks.
