    Re: Zanussi zwf12170w keeps pumping

unfortunately very likely to be the surface mounted triac on the main pcb which turns the pump on and off had a few of these short out see her for diagnostics and fault codes

    Re: Delonghi dfs903 Went Bang

just as an after thought the main oven selector switch on the 901 and 903 was very prone to burning out on the last 2 switches
never found out if this was due to overloading the contacts or the heat from the wok burner above it but it was def an issue

knew a mick hayes that worked for comet… anyway is likely to be faulty stat if the stat were to go O/c could be over heating but if its shorting to earth likely to be just a duff stat. Disconnect the power then remove the stat fit a temp bridging wire in its place and megger the live to earth and negative to earth if its ok then just replace the stat

loud grating noise would lead me to think more in the direction of a foreign object in one of the pumps ( there’s two , one for draining , one for circulating the water during wash)Could be something like a bit of broken glass, chicken bone etc. If you’re comfortable doing so, unplug from supply , drain as much water as possible from inside using a sponge or towel and then remove the pumps to check if there’s anything in them.

Re: Water filling in machine when not in use

one of two things . Is it clean water or dirty water?. If its clean there’s a fair chance the electric valve that allows water into the machine is letting water into the machine when it should be closed and needs to be replaced. If its dirty water its down to your plumbing the grey waste hose must go upwards from the drain spigot under the sink so drain water cant run from the sink into the machine

don’t get me wrong, financially these are my bread and butter it’d just be nice now and again not to have to clean my feet on the way out !

Says its a ” quick guide ” at 180 pages I’m not so sure lol but some good diagnostic and fault code stuff

I would think if you look hard enough you prob would but in the absence of the smart card/eeprom uploader/reader for each PCB type I don’t see it being of much use even if you can find it

I agree with Martin, the split stator motor on these ( used in the 12-1400 rpm variants ) are very prone to broken wires both on the loom side of the motor plug and the motor side don’t know if its due to the excess vib they all seem to suffer from but broken motor loom wires are regular. Unfortunately I work it a predominately deprived area and see a lot of these cheap junk, beko’s economy inde’s etc

Could also be the housewife’s favourite – overloading. too many clothes restricting the air flow, elements don’t get cooled, overheat pops.

hate to say it but sounds like a shorted triac on the pcb. Was the motor a bit ropey before you changed the PCB? it it was a bit arc-y before which may have caused the original PCB to go then although you’ve cured the ” fault ” being the PCB you may have missed the cause and it’s done it again. If its any consolation I’ve replaced the triac on this boards quite a few times without any grief and they’re only about £ 3 from RS

It never fails to amaze me when customers have heard all the above and know deep down they’re junk but seem to develop selective amnesia when they see the price ticket !

Had this as a ” Ghost ” fault when the capacitors are going down on the main pcb whip it out and give them a visual for leakage or bulging on top.
