I’m assuming you’ve already checked the wiring into the heat sensor in the centre of the heater and checked it for resistance . The heater itself ok?

lol ” economy range ” was what they called them the ones with the green print panel, personally I’d call them pure junk. As bad as many inde appliances were this was one of the few which, when the soap box seams or the breather leaked squirted water onto the console pcb and set the damn things on fire..

I’d generally salvage them from a scrap board but failing that the details are printed on the relay lid pretty sure you’ll get them in RS possibly even maplin

I usually use a black marker and mark the side of the motor plug where the taco wires are before unplugging the old motor then its easy to plug in the right way up ! This also works on the FHP motor which replaces the GEC type in older machines make sure the taco’s in the right place and you can push the plug in without any wiring alterations

Can’t really give you specific wiring advice however if you follow the solenoid wires you’re referring to they terminate at a multi plug edge connector on the main PCB without seeing the appliance I cant obviously say if there’s a short or a break or poor termination etc if you suspect a wiring fault you really should give an engineer a bell to make sure you get continued, safe , use of your appliance

They do seem to be easily damaged but the last one I had I cut the cap off and adjusted down the plunger screw till it filled and then turned it back up. I know they tell you not to adjust them … just figured what can you loose if the alternatives replacing it with a new one anyway !

The extra wires a stator tap for the higher spins the old GEC motors ( the small kinda round things with the cartridge brushes) basically had two varients the large round taco type this was an analogue taco mainly used with lower spin upto 1000 rpm and the one with the smaller taco with the wee bar across it , this was a digital taco mainly in the higher spin machines. As far as I know the two types aren’t interchangeable as the signal type into the timer is different. The small taco 6 contact motor is interchangeable with the small taco 7 pin just make sure the taco wires are lined up and the rest fall in

    Re: SIMPLE PCB REPAIR TIPS

Forgot to mention in earlier post most of the hotpoint/inde pcbs are the same ( except for the economy range inde’s and the 3 phase stuff ) If you’ve got a board gone that you cant repair but have a spare one maybe from a different machine I’ve lifted the soldered eeprom from the faulty pcb and soldered it into the replacement with 100 {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success, no need to program or mess about with a eeprom reader since you’re using the original eeprom with all the right info on it.

As you’ve identified this is a heater relay fault, on the main PCB. What happens next depends on your level of expertise, the relay can be removed from the board and replaced or, if you dont have the tooling or confidence to do that you’d really need to get an engineer in as after you purchase the new PCB and an EEprom to fit it you need to programme the EEprom for your specific model . The interface for doing this is something you’re unlikely to have.

    Re: Zanussi Washing Machine Fault

Could well be a blocked drain filter/drain spigot where the drain hose goes on under the sink or worst case the pump’s failing when it gets hot which would require replacing. The other thing that could cause it is the pressure vessel which feeds the pressure switch may be partially blocked causing the pressure switch not to release. If the switch still registers water in the tub the PCB will abort full spin.

Holding down Prewash and Stain buttons whilst turning programme knob to short spin should clear the fault however the cause is likely to be either a faulty solenoid on one of the water valves or a dirty/oxidised edge connector on the main PCB. Remove the edge connectors giving them a light rub with some emery ( best to do this one at a time so you don’t get them mixed up ! The plugs going onto the PCB can be lightly cleaned using an old tooth brush dipped in a little meths

hi, remove the pump from its housing and check the impeller is fluff clear so it can turn. once you’ve got the pump carrier removed if you look into the reservoir the back left corner has a small cut out that passes the water from the condensing chamber into the reservoir this cut out often gets blocked give it a prod with something flexible but firm, a bit off a wire coat hanger for example. it is possible the pumps gone but more often than not its mechanical if you want a bit of free advice hard learned, don’t jump into buying parts till you’ve exhausted other possibilities and know you absolutely need a new part since the old part either cant be rescued or would be unsafe to refit

Hi need a wee bit more info but sounds like a door lock problem the door interlock, I’m pretty sure this model had the plastic ” pointer ” in the top centre of the door this pressed in the door switch when the door closed. Sometimes these fell out so have a look to see if the pointers there, you’ll see the hole in the cabinet where it should poke through.
