Sorry guys
I did not mean to start any kind of bad feeling in my post here about the nuts. Nor did I mean to belittle anyone suffering from any kind of allergy.
Especially one that potentially could be life threatening.I just thought it strange like Greg that that when you buy something deliberately that there is a warning that it may contain the thing you bought it for.
And though yes I did understand the “funny” comment about the UKW containing nuts don’t be hard on this guy who wrote in. I would not like to have been in his position and have to face the fact that you have almost lost a 6-month-old baby. You do not know when this event happened. It might still be fresh in his mind and hurting from the experience. Who knows? This clearly has hit a nerve with him and he made his feeling known. Time to let it go.

Need to try and find it for you
No kiding my wife bought some crushed almonds a couple of months ago, and what was the warning on the back?
“Caution may contain traces of nuts”
Hope they contained more than just a trace. That is what she bought them for
And that was here in the UK 👿

ParticipantRe: RCD tripping house mains?
My thoughts on this one is. Becouse it has happend before you turned up Have they had the fuse box replaced. Sounds like it may be a split load consumer unit.
Clue to this take cover off CU and two neutral bars so if everything is ok untill something else where is swithed on. Current returns on wrong neutral trips RCD.Have you all seen the proposals for the new 17th regs? Big changes regarding the use of RCDs

After a bit of searching I found this.http://www.communities.gov.uk/pub/908/NewrulesforelectricalsafetyinthehomePDF244Kb_id1130908.pdf
Which clearly states “England and Wales”
I got there from here http://www.communities.gov.uk/index.asp?id=1130906
I hear what you say about info from forums. As for the certificates so long as you actualy do the tests required and record them properly their is no problems with you doing these.

ParticipantRe: Kettles
Yes they do have the CE mark and they do automaticaly cut-out.
Just think it strange there is no on/off switch. If the auto cut-out was to fail (as they do sometimes) there is no way to switch it off without putting your hand near the kettle and pulling out the plug.

ParticipantRe: Refrigeration Tech books
Have a look at this
“Modern Refigeration and air conditioning” by Aulthouse, Turnquist, Bracciano, printed by G-W Publishers
The copy I have is Edition 18 printed in 2004 (may have been updated)
isbn :- 1-59070-280-8It is a bit expensive at £65 but covers everything, including some basic electrical theory, car air con, domestic and industrial refigeration, convertion charts, fault finding charts, pressure-enthalpy charts for varrious gasses. Great refrence book but if you want to learn from it get the study guide that goes with it.
It is written for the Americans but converts easily. Ground = earth etc

Try this link

In perticular
NOTE: This legislation does not apply in Scotland
All electrical work should be coverd by the “Building warrent”

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
Dont talk to me about WD40
Had a client (my mum and dad 😳 ) whose tumble dryer was squeeking. Unable to find “bearings” dad squirted WD40 on the shiny bits.
Need I say more ❓

ParticipantRe: Part P again
Just a thought
Could you not do the work so long as you have the relevent buiding warrent, then the council will come out and inspect the work them selfs, and sign off the certificates.
I was under the impression that having part P registraterd electricians ment that the council did not have to do the inspections them selfs.
