Turn machine OFF on the front panel. Hold down the Water Temp Down button and press the POWER button. Release buttons. You are in Diagnostic mode. Press advance once, press the spin speed up button until the hold and slow are lit. Write down the LEDS which are lit across the top row of progress LEDS. and post back.

This indicates the bowl sensor is giving incorrect readings. If it sounds like a jet taking off when it spins, the main seal has perished and water can spray onto the sensor. Turn off power at wall, tilt back, remove the base panel ( if it is still there ), if there are rusty streaks on the rotor ( big plastic thing that turns ) , this is the main seal problem.

Diagnostic for all smartdrives are the same, and I see you have already received from the previous post, but with a 01 model after entering this mode you will have to press advance once.

Re: Fisher & Paykel smartdrive 051 won’t spin

If the board is only 3mths old, try a new one as the board has a 1 year warranty, and if faulty will be covered. But when the board was replaced, did the size of th W/M get stored? Do it by pressing and holding start/pause down, then press power, and release both. The W/M will give 3-4 beeps, then press power again. I hope we are getting closer:wink:

Re: Fisher & Paykel smartdrive 051 won’t spin

Make sure, with the W/M back together and the power off, you can lift the inner bowl, and move it round freely without it grabbing the agitator and turning it. Then it should drop back into the clutch, and then when you turn the bowl the agitator should move as well. If it is doing this, and the W/m is empty of water and it still wont spin, then it could be a faulty pressure in the control board.

Re: Fisher & Paykel smartdrive 051 won’t spin

This is a bowl dis- engage fault. It mean the bowl is not releasing from the clutch. Remove the bowl as previously explained and check 🙂
    This should fix the problem.

Unfortunatly, besides the pump burning out, the pump circut in the control board has also shorted out. The only thing you can do is replace the controller P/N 426895p. Depending on where you live you may be able to buy a reconditioned board from the parts supplier( all F+P boards are recond anyway ) which will be cheaper than the F+P board. 🙁

Re: Fisher & Paykel smartdrive 051 won’t spin

When you checked the outer plastic thing(rotor) that covered the copper wound thing(stator), was there evidence of scraping/ damage to the magnets on the inside?
If not, it sounds like it could be somthing caught in or around the bowl, or the spline/clutch is worn. Taking out the bowl is the easiest way to check both.
Undo the 2 screws at the front of the top( under the little covers) tilt the top back being careful with the inlet hoses, having previously removed the agitator. Then unclip the plastic ring around the top and hang it to the side or disconnect spring( remember to refit spring ) from suspension. Then in one swift upward movement (not too swift) remove the inner bowl, have a look around the exterior of the bowl and feel around in the bottom of the outer for anything. Remove the screws (3) holding the creme cover on the inside base of the inner bowl and check the spline. There is a stainless ring on the underside of this, make sure it doesnt look worn.

Read instructions backwards to refit Hope this helps.

    Re: GW603 Diagnostic Codes needed

12 is a flood protection fault, so it looks like the hose position is probably the cause due to the syphoning. The drain hose should drop as it comes out of the W/m then come up to the height of the lid on the W/m, then a short length of pipe should go into the drain/tub, so that the end of the hose is never covered by water. Also check the drain flow when pumping out, it should be as thick as the hose and rapid. If it isn’t, there could be a drain restriction or a faulty pump. Let us know how you get on. 🙂

Check the freezer for frost on the back wall or ice build up, as it could be a defrost system fault. ❓
