Re: F&P Smart Drive 051 won’t fill cold water

You can only adjust the warm temp on an MW washer, with the GW’s you can adjust every water temp.
Enter diagnostics, and post the fault code. Also in this mode press and hold the wash temp down button. This will turn the cold valve on by itself, and it should stay on until you release the button.

Let us know how you go 😉

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

I am required to carry my cellphone 24/7 (in the contract), but when I am in the customers house, and they are around, I will never answer it, but silence the ringer, and say to the customer ‘if its important, they will leave a message’ which usually results in a conversation starting with the customer saying ‘How did we ever get on without all these modern…….’

The way I see it, the customer is paying your wage while you are in their house, and deserves your full attention. I have explained this to my boss (who pays me some of the money the cutomers give him), and he kicked up a fuss at first, but when I explained my reasoning behind it and the fact that Mrs Smiths fridge will still be @#${e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}^* in 10 minutes, so its not that big a deal that I answer my phone so the girl in the office can give Mrs Smith a time when I can call around and tell her its @#${e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}*.

Customer service is what it is all about. No customers, no service, no money. Its as simple as that. 😉

The fault code is 41, which is an out of ballance switch fault. Let us know how you go 😉

Re: Fisher & Paykel smart drive 051: HELP

Turn machine OFF on the front panel. Hold down the Water Temp Down button and press the POWER button. Release buttons. You are in Diagnostic mode. Press the advance button once, then press the spin speed up button until the hold and slow are lit. Write down the LEDS which are lit across the top row of progress LEDS. 😉

Re: F&P Smart Drive 708 Fault

It sounds like a water supply problem, or a bad water valve. First check the filters at both the tap end of the hose (most likely the cold side) as well as the plastic mesh filter inside the valve (the part the hose screws onto at the back of the WM), remove the hose and pull the filter out of the valve with longnose pliers. The filters are probably blocked

Re: GW609 – Washes, pumps out but wont spin

We should get the diagnostics right first.

Turn machine OFF on the front panel. Hold down the Water Temp Down button and press the POWER button. Release buttons. You are in Diagnostic mode. Press the spin speed up button until the hold and slow are lit. Write down the LEDS which are lit across the top row of progress LEDS.

If it still comes back to the same fault code, make sure the drain pump is not overheating.

Re: GW609 – Washes, pumps out but wont spin

This fault code says your drain pump is blocked, but it could be partially so, causing the WM not to detect a drop in the water level.

Turn off power at wall. Remove the inspection hatch on the front rh cnr ( if the W/M has one, if not, just tilt the W/M back ), shine a torch in 😯 and give the small propellor on the bottom of the drain pump a couple of turns, if it at first feels tight, keep turning until it feels free, then advance to spin and start.

If this doesn’t work, undo the 2 screws at the front of the top( under the little covers) tilt the top back being careful with the inlet hoses, having previously removed the agitator. Then unclip the plastic ring around the top and hang it to the side or disconnect spring( remember to refit spring ) from suspension. Then in one swift upward movement (not too swift) remove the inner bowl, and then you will see the pump cover. Remove the screw clamping it down and remove cap and base, now get your hand in and feel around the impellor on the top of the pump , and remove any foreign matter. Try propellor on bottom of pump to check if it is free before reassembling.

Read instructions backwards to refit. 😉

    Hope this helps.

in reply to: Smartdrive 085 fails to go into spin cycle #148680

Re: Smartdrive 085 fails to go into spin cycle

It looks to me like a bad stator. Remove the rotor(rotating plastic thing on the bottom of the shaft under the WM) and stator (stationary side of motor with all the windings that the rotor fits over), make sure the WM has not been leaking into the motor, and check the rotor sensor (on the side of the stator). Replace this if corroded.

Let us know how you go 😉

All the book says re the fault is the motor controller has been unable to start the motor rotating.

    Good luck!

in reply to: 3 in one dishwasher tablets #147629

Re: 3 in one dishwasher tablets

Had the same issue about 2 weeks ago. 7 yr old f+p 818 DW, over the last 12 mths has had a couple of leaks, inlet valve connection and door seal (but of course the customer thought it was the same problem, and said it hadnt been fixed properly the first time). 6 mths after tightening the inlet connection, I get a phone call ” this bloody DW is still not going properly, come back and fix it, AND I’M NOT PAYING!!!” So i calmly say if it is related to either of the last 2 faults, then fair enough.

So I go, I dismantle, I check for leaks, I find nothing, I reassemble, I suggest we set it going and I will call back if/when it does it again. “Wheres your powder?” I say. “Oh, we dont use powder anymore, we use tablets.” “Okay, (I’ll play the game) wheres your tablets.” Load the dispenser, set it going, and head back to work for a cuppa and a sleep. Half an hour later, I was rudely awaken by the phone. “Help, help, the floor is covered in foamy water”

Long story short, called and cleared flood switch, told them to use good powder with no rinse aid (hadnt used for 4 mths anyway, since they started with the tablets), and sent them a bill for $100 😆 .

I tell people its like DW cleaners, its something else the detergent companies create to suck more money out of you. Pre-rinse your dishes and occasionally wipe down your DW is all ou need to do to make it last longer 😉

in reply to: Fisher&Paykel GW611 Washer error codes. #147918

Re: Fisher&Paykel GW611 Washer error codes.

About the $3.50 MOSFET, as you well know, everybody cant know everything. Appliance servicing involves very little formal electronic repair training, and this is something you hear from a few people “I took it to a TV repair place and he fixed the fault in the board for $50”. But the big thing is it took him 1 hour, and 20 years in the electronics industry, to fix it. And they had to wait a week for it, after the repair guy had been out and told them what was wrong. I can understand the frustration people feel especially when they have bought a new washer, but he was probably not trying to rip you off, but just doesnt know about the finer points of electronics. 😕

Regarding the Washer, F+P are a very resonable company to deal with, phone them with a date of sale and a serial no and see what they say.
Although it may be best if you reassemble the machine before the repair guy arrives. 😉 , and maybe dont tell F+P about the stator, as you will be admiting to voiding the warranty. 🙁

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
