The Kelvinator brand name, as far as I am aware, is still on lease to Candy/GIAS Group in Europe so it would most likely be a Candy in disguise.

The Kelvinator brand differs depending on region, in the US I seem to remember that it’s owned by Electrolux, in South Africa it’s someone else and I can’t remember who it is in Australia. 😕

    Confused? 😉

    Re: Repairs@ Module

Excellent, it’s good to hear that it is indeed working as intended.

But there’s still a lot of postcodes that are not covered simply because some haven’t filled out a form that will take all of five minutes to do, that kinda hacks me off a bit after the effort we put in to get this up and running,

I was talking to Del earlier today and was explaining that until the rewrite of the weighting, which is where the calls get prioritised towards subscribers, that a drop-box appears to the customer when there are multiple repairers in the one area doing the same appliances. Fine, but the first one that registers in the area appears in the top drop-box, a wasted opportunity methinks for five minutes work.

I also said that this is like giving away free money, bar setting up a stall somwhere and calling, “Roll up, roll up get your free money here”, really there’s not much more I can do! It’s free, it’s easy and we’ve made it as easy administer as is humanly possible. Yet, using Martin’s simple calculation on labour alone, not including spares sales, in just over a week from going live there has been over £2000 worth of service calls lost, in a week!! So, if one of your competitors got the call because the customer had to resort to Yellow Pages or the local rag, don’t come moaning to me I offered it to anyone that wants the work…FREE!

Also bear in mind that a lot of you have been on UKW for a while now, why should someone jump the queue and blag the work from under your nose?

We DO NOT profit from the work passed through repairs at at all, nor are we looking to do so, ever. You will not be charged for it. There you are, it’s in writing and as clear as clear can be.

    Hi Kirky,

If you have a look about this very forum you’ll find loads on the infamous E2 error.

Re: Canon SD10 gas tumble dryer

    Hi Jan,

You’re going struggle I’m afraid. CORGI/HSE decided in their wisdom to make the gas tumble dryers a seperate module for the CORGI registered guys and, due to costs of that and the low volumes of gas dryers out there, repairers are rare to say the least that will touch a gas dryer. Added to which most of the engineers that work or have worked on them seem to passionately despise the things.

Your best bet in all honesty is to kick the problem back to Hotpoint who own the Canon brand name but it will be a White Knight gas dryer in disguise no doubt.

Just don’t hold your breath waiting on getting someone there from what I hear. 🙁

Not a lot of help but it’s the best I can offer. 😕

And in a mail I got this morning…

Carol Madden wrote:Given the current state of affairs both the board and myself have taken steps to protect NESN and the network by very quickly re-allocating the postcodes of Beaver to existing members of the network and new members as appropriate. No doubt there will be a concerted effort to discredit what we have done with many comments about “stitch ups” from certain sources. I can’t stop what people say without resorting to the law, which I will keep as an option if really pushed, but I want to let you all know how we have gone about the re-allocation and the principles used:

1 NESN has the right to allocate postcodes where it believes it is in its commercial and operational interest.

2 Adjacent members are considered first with all other members having the opportunity to apply thereafter.

3 Risk assessment is undertaken both operationally and commercially, before any decisions are taken

4 The opportunity is taken to address anomalies in previous allocations

    5 Fairness is crucial

6 Openness and transparency of the decisions

7 An orderly handover of work is planned given the results of the risk assessment

However veiled it may be it is still a threat and it is a very real threat. Basically what’s she’s saying here is that if she’s backed into a corner she’ll use that as the trump card to get herself out the shit.

Although on reading through the email it would hardly seem that they applied these high morality values in Kevin’s case would it?

Hunker down in the trenches guys as this is gonna be a long hard slog fighting BG on any level.

I’m not saying it’s not worthy of the effort or that it is in vain by any stretch but it will take time to win the day here.

    But I’ve been thinking….

Not quiet with me either, dunno where the work is coming from and there’s nothing new there, just the same old, same old but it’s been manic the past few weeks. I am also booking some areas into next week and there’s little I can do to ease the situation either.

The weird thing is that certain areas are just absolutely insanely busy whilst others seem normal really.

It’ll tail off as usual though no doubt at some point.

Thaksk for the commetns re the site DPM.

To get something of a similar quality to your Zanussi 918, frankly, you’ll struggle these days unless it wears a “Made In Germany” badge on it. 😕

Washer dryers are a compromise on the drying, they will not perform as well as a seperate dryer will, in fact nowhere near the same performance as a seperate dryer. If you have the space I would always recommend seperates to a customer.

Zanussi is part of teh Electrolux Group so you can save a few bob by going for the less desireable Tricity name and get the same thing basically with a different dress on, or pay more and get an AEG badge on it. 😉

Merloni, there’s little or no difference at all that I know of. I think some of the drum units are a crossbreed between Merloni and Hotpoint. The less I say about that idea the better methinks, but my personal opinion is not high of any of the brands.

There is quite a marked difference in the wash performance of older machines without the “AAA” ratings being in force and the newer appliances. The do take longer, a lot in many cases. Figure on about an hour and a half or more on a lot of them for a 40C wash. 🙁

    Hope that helps.

Yes it is a heating fault but it can be caused by several things and, if you’re not too sure of it, then it’s not really a DIY fix.

    For that postcode try;

    J & J Parkinson – 020 8303 6950
    T & J Parkinson – 02083036950
    Sellens Service – 01732 521500
    Swift Electrical Services – 01689 833315

    Hope that helps.

Re: Tecnik 9260, Water spills out of powder dispenser tray

    Yes it can change.

Turning it too low will affect the wash times but not the performance or results from the wash.

Essentially the water comes in through a valve which is a simple on or off electrovalve affair and then along a hose to teh soap dispencer at mains pressure. It then is fed through the top of the drawer and sprays down onto the detergent in the drawer carrying that into the wash.

The only other thing that I can think of is that if this is happening on the final rinse then the fabric conditioner could be blocked. But you said that you removed that and I assumed that you’d have given it a good clean whilst you had it out.

The only other way to get an overflow is in the hose from the bottom of the drawer that goes to the tub. If that is blocked or partially blocked it could cause this, but again you’ve said you’d checked that.

So given the information the logical conclusion is that the water pressure has altered and is high.

This happens on a few machines if the local water pressure is too high and all you can do is reduce that using the tap until the problem goes away. 😕

kheath wrote:PS..with usual NESN tact they could not talk to me, so this was all through JF who was and always has been their mouth piece.

Which should also explain why we’re still very standoffish and really don’t want anything to do with NESN as, even with the new CEO, they have still persisted in the same course of action regarding one of the very matters that cost them so dearly in the past.

So irrespective of the happy, want to help, friendly face of the reborn NESN it’s really just business as usual whilst the contract remains in force as it is and they don’t own up to being a shower of utter bastards. And, like I said, how long will it be before someone else falls foul of them and they decide to persecute them or force their will upon them?

Which is why Kevin (and I) struggle to understand why DASA allows NESN to pontificate being brilliant to the membership as it is a total falsehood to present NESN as being a good business partner. Were it me I would not allow that to continue or give them the lattitude that has thus far been forthcoming as, frankly, they have fucked over as many DASA members and still owe quite a few a fair bit of money, but that seems not to have been taken into account. If they right the wrongs then fine, but they haven’t.

The official reason for the contract clauses still being in place is that it would allow the repairers to move on and leave the network freely without any problems. Well, if that’s true then surely that is simply ruling by fear with a smiley face on isn’t it? It is still a form of control regardless of how you want to slice it. And if it is untrue and there is an alterior motive then we’re back at square one and the dark days of JT in control.

It really doesn’t matter how you look at it from any angle the thing stinks.

However, I’ll get them in the end. Mark my words, I don’t forget it when my friends get royally screwed and this isn’t over yet, I just have to find a way that leaves Kevin in the clear and, I will.
