Booked up, flying into Exeter then flying to Sibson.

The first flight is on a Boeing or something, the second on a BMW! 😉

    Re: Hotpoint Advertise Franchises!

Heh Shane, it’s great news for me, even just the sheer entertainment value is going to be fantastic more than likely and there’s a few more snide comments to come I’m sure. 😉

But personally I’d like to say a big thank you to Merloni as because their service is so bad, not only have I picked up some nice work from D&G who pay me a LOT better than NESN ever did or will, I also picked up a little bit of nice charge rate work on Hotpoint product from a local CIH dealer today as well and their opinion of NESN was, em, not good shall we say. 😀

I can live with that, please continue with things as is. 😆

PS, Alex, really I do hope you were kidding about those violin cases! 😕

Actually Martin broadband coverage now extends to over 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the UK population, note population, not area.

This month for the first time ever broadband connections exceeeded PSTN dial ups as well. 😉

    No longer in the minority.

No problem, I’ll get that away ASAP and I wasn’t claiming for it anyway, hence the “it’s Expert’s” comment.

Oops, sorry Woz, I forgot the form so doing it now, should be with you in a few minutes, I’ve been a bit busy lately. 😳

    Re: Hotpoint Advertise Franchises!

And in the news this afternoon it would appear that NESN of all people have picked up work from Merloni to the tune of 40,000 calls plus a year at an even higher rate than has been offered to any individual!

I’m awaiting confirmation of this, more as I get it and on the rate which thus far is rumoured (well I have to say that don;t I? ;)) to be around £35-6. Now, had Merloni offered that to a lot of the guys in the first place they may well have taken it on and, we have to remember, that NESN’s pound of flesh will be on top of that as well.

No news on training or stocks, so expect a high double call rate as it is stated that it is in-warranty only, so most of us will have zero stock for the appliances. There’s something weird going on with the spares though as they say you can use your own supplier according to my information and bill back at cost, but is that cost to you or cost from Merloni? Presumably that’s because Merloni’s debt collection agents ar going around harrassing the ex-agents that are in dispute over spares returns. 😕

Maybe those under threat of that should, as I suggested before, form a little band and deal with Merloni in a class action? That should work out a lot cheaper and easier to defend in a court as any judge will be a tad perplexed as to why there are multiple people with the same problems with one company.

If Woz tells me to send it down to you I have no issue with that.

I knew I’d seen that button/display before when I was doing the picture!

It’s a Bernstein thing, Woz can probably clarify the model etc., but I have a PCB timer on my desk part numbered, 91/LSIS h/135 for one of those. You can’t have though as it’s Expert’s, not mine. 😉

Someone will no doubt be able to shed some light on it a bit better.

    Re: Merloni

I answered Alex’s post in the Sub Forum as I think it’s important to explain why I went the route I did with e-Jobs, essentially it works and many of us are recieving work via email anyway so there’s no hassle in adding another avenue to that, It’s merely a case of seeing that as a valuable, or possibly luctrative, way to recieve calls.

Once that works, we move on to the next stage. 😉

    Re: e-Jobs

Alex, you know my sentiments on money only too well. 😉

You are dead right, we will need to be well up to speed to cope with the work from this as it will be chargeable work from people that have a few brain cells in the main I think, i.e. internet users. The reason for using email and not a web-based system is that it is easy to check and filter in almost any mail client, using Outlook you can create rules to alert you with sounds and all sorts. Also, many people check their mail far more regularly and it can be routed to several places with a bit of clever manipulation, all in all the flexible and sensible answer as well as being low maintenance and fault reporting built-in, failed delivery reports etc.

It’s a system that works, why re-invent the wheel. 😉

The Advisory Council have a role to play in who survives and who does not, that is the reason it was implimented. This will essentially make UKW, to an extent, a self-governing body of independents and all the power of that is held within OUR ranks and not used against us as it has been in the past by outsiders and prospectors that simply wish to take their food off our plate.

As to the livery, I think it’s a start and I want it to be subtle but in your face if you see what I mean, but also tastefull and felxible. I spoke to Del about it for a bit last night and he’s on the case. 😉

    Thanks for the support guys.

The application form for e-Jobs is now online in the downloads area. 😀

PDF file only at the moment, available from this link…

Well, let me outline a couple of scenarios to show how I’m thinking here and I will use personal gain in this one…

Hotperloni are quoting people 7 days + lead time and wanting to charge the punter £90, I’ll call in 48 hours and charge £60.

GIAS are roughly the same and Hoover and Candy aren’t exactly a challenge either.

Some of the “weird” brands we do I can charge what the hell I want to charge for them!

I’d rather be doing that and banking money every day or other day than pissing about with some of the contract work we do. Hence the importance of e-Jobs and it’s the key that can open a few doors and more than a few possibilities IF we can make a success of it.

Ehm Chris, try 1.5m in a week or so, if that!

2m all too possible before the end of the year.

In all honesty the actual posts are, in general and as a rule, superb. Many of them I have been very surprised about as they have been very cleverly crafted as to not give too much information, but enough that may lead to a cure.

If I do anything really long, I just do it in Word as it saves proof reading a few times and eliminates silly spelling errors. Grammatically it can still be wrong with it’s squiggles though. 😉
