KeymasterRe: The UKW Subscriber Forum
I keep getting asked for information on this subject so here’s the URL for the article on it:

KeymasterI’ve not used any of them at all TBH for many a long year being 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} contract work, but if they can do Smeg D/W timers I may give them a try for the chargeable repairs.

KeymasterOrdered for you. 😀

KeymasterNope, I was thinking much the same TBH, I didn’t think they would deal with the general public at all.
Best have a word with them then and see if they want to do things that way I guess. But for the moment I think it’s a sound plan.

KeymasterListed at £18.65 ex VAT retail, do you want one ordered?

KeymasterYes Ian I checked it in Agora and it is indeed showing as “abandoned”. The problem is that spares like that are very definately a special order spare, I should doubt anyone would cary stock so, at best, it’s a long-shot that someone would have one.
Put it this way, I’ve been a Brandt/De Dietrich agent for about 12 years and I don’t recall ever ordering one. 😕
What is the actual problem with the clock? The other thing is it may be worthwhile seeing if EMW can repair the parts, as well as no-doubt a lot cheaper if they can.

KeymasterYes, he should be in the trade side and one of his posts were what promted the “Public” in front of one of the forums the other night.
Perhaps you could drop him a friendly PM? 😉

Anonymous wrote:Re: MAKES of new ones – I see you favour the Bosch – I was told to go for a Siemens by my local Appliance Spares guy last year … what’s the concensus on them ? Plus, what do you mean by expensive ones ? I’d rather have a idea on Model numbers than pricing – particularly what you can get on the internet/ebay etc….
I have no idea of the current models but apparently the Siemens range, whilst still Bosch/Neff/Siemens/Gaggenau (yes they are all the same company under different brands) are a better made appliance, I’d say look for one that’s actually built in Germany. A lot of the cheaper ones, which tend to be Bosch as I believe that brand is being used for the low to mid-market sector, tend to be Spanish built by a company called Balay IIRC. From what I have been told these are labelled as being “Made In The EU” and not as being built in Germany.
Dave or Don may well be able to point you in the right direction with model numbers either later or in the morning when they read this.

KeymasterYeah but if you do go for a Bosch buy one of the better ones, i.e expensive ones, as the word is that a lot of the new range is not that great at all. 😕

KeymasterOh don’t worry Penguin, if what I have in mind gets going I”ll be making a meal of it and, it will have no raw fish, sorry. 😉

KeymasterIf memory serves me right there is legislation in place that states that a manufacturer must have spares available for certain period of time. It may well be worth contacting Trading Standards to see what they think of this.

KeymasterIs it me or does there seem a very suspicious and very large price difference in those hinges?
And again, MFI win the day!
