    That is not true Martin.

Bosch do not make all that they sell and to say otherwise is false.

The best example being bought in dryers from White Knight they used for years and they still buy in side by side fridge freezers.

What else they buy in, no idea as I don’t have access to the information since Bosch is as secretive and as closed shop as MI5.

Re: ASKO washing machines available in the UK

They moved production from Sweden to Slovenia Martin, they still make them. Whether the same or not I do not know.

They are brought into the UK from Holland I think under the Primus brand and have been for years but, very expensive way to do it and if you can get parts, they too will be at commercial pricing and likely not cheap.

That is a nightmare, Mark’s right on that.

The early board is part number 691651103 and is showing nil stock at Smeg but can be gotten, list about £135.

The later board is part number 691651338 and shows nil stock everywhere.

And has this helpful note on it from Smeg…

INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW ELECTRONIC FOR THE COMPONENT UPDATING AND STANDARDIZATION. AS A CONSEQUENCE THE LISTED PARTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED TO ADAPT THEM TO THE NEW CONFIGURATION ( REFER TO THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR THE RELATED UPDATED ELECTRONIC SPECIFICATIONS)

IT’S NOT POSSIBLE TO APPLY THE NEW ELECTRONIC ON THE PRE-MODIFICATION APPLIANCES, AS IT’S NOT SUITABLE FOR THE OLD WIRING LOOM.

Are you a WTA member as we got PL insurance a lot cheaper on their deal, whoever it was with, can’t recall. Just remember it saving over £100 PA.

It does show that one against the model, it’s a full assembly as shown here:

There’s no other listed against that model that I can find.

Some Electrolux Group models but, depends on the PNC and where they were made.

    Soem Vestel, maybe.

Other than that you will struggle.

You’d have to check with Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk but I’m pretty sure this is the cheapest one we found that fits perfectly….

Re: ISE W256W Thermistor tripping RCD

Thermistor is a low voltage component. That can’t short to earth or enough to take out an RCD as there’s only 12V DC running through it IIRC.

Water getting down there and onto the motor though…

Re: Important Changes To Engineer Search

Some of the update to this page is a bit of a rehash of what’s gone before but this thread coming to life again reminded me to do it…

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/abou … er-search/

I’ve updated that page dramatically with a lot more info on it and a lot more about what the search does, how it works and so on. In fairness it was not well explained at all previously, my bad.

There are more features coming to it I hope in the not too distant future one of which, if it comes off and I can’t say that it will just yet, should offer you the ability to accept calls from an insurer directly or, as directly as can be. I don’t want to say too much as it is a bit commercially sensitive for the time being and not guaranteed as if the terms for the repairer’s isn’t right then it won’t happen.

If you are a WTA member though and not on there, please get registered and include your WTA number as the listing on there now appears on the WTA site as well as UKW and, you get the top slots in almost every case.

    If you’re not a WTA member… well… 😉

    Re: IOT enabled Engineers

    Maybe.

After more than ten years at it though, not much in the way of improvement.

What’s more worrying is that other than the odd bit player products from Samsung and LG this is starting to turn up elsewhere, hell even Vestel and some of the Chinese brands are in on the act.

Beko, Electrolux, Whirlpool… many of them so far as I can see seem to be headed down this road.

Depending on whether or not they can all sell the idea to both retailers and consumers, this could become mainstream, perhaps even the norm.

It’s cheap-ish to implement, bumps the bottom line and servicing them well that’s a secondary concern perhaps at best but for some, I doubt it’s even much of a consideration. I expect as the true cost to do that is likely masked and, repairers doing this stuff at the same old rates won’t help that be changed.

Now I don’t really care about that some may say as, after all, I don’t have a stake here since I am not involved in repairs. But a lot of my friends are, some are even under contract and cannot voice any derogatory opinion for fear of punishment (something that has changed little in some quarters since I started this site) and for me, that’s wrong.

I can also tell you that there might even be some employees of certain companies that know full well all this is a complete crock but, they too can’t say anything. If there were such mythical creatures, they might even say that the repairers are being screwed over.

Some might even say that some of the concerns raised, info sold by companies to other companies for insurance purposes, lax security and so forth were just well, the norm really.

    All hypothetical of course.

But if it weren’t hypothetical there’s every chance that info would leak and a strong possibility that some people might be a tad upset about all of it.
