KeymasterThere are a number of models where yes, an external motor unit is used and they are in many ways excellent as it allows a higher extraction rate as you can see but also removes virtually all the noise from the kitchen. The downside of course being the additional cost involved in that.
The huge upside to Elica as things are now (obviously I can’t predict years down the track) is spares etc are available easily, relatively well priced and tend to be available for many years. Regularly we will be providing parts for hoods that are 20+ years old.

KeymasterVery odd, can you email Sudeep and let him look into that for you on stalati@ukwhitegoods.co.uk, he’ll fix it.

KeymasterThere’s no support for any of these sorts of devices I could find, I had one that popped and they’re so cheap that I think they’re considered to be throwaway things sadly.

KeymasterThere could be reasons for that aside from being in trouble.
But Ebac is hard to recommend as there’s no info on them, no parts for them and seemingly poor sales and aftersales support.

KeymasterTo be fair, it’s a testament to the engineering and design that it didn’t go up!
I have often gone on about parts that are designed to fail or, designed to fail in a certain way that to us and customers can look as if they’re a pile of poo but it’s entirely intentional that they fail the way the do.
I first discovered this with Candy Inox door catches talking to one of the techs… God, I’m getting old!

KeymasterDoes anyone know what the state of play is with DASA now?
I’ve had a few people ask me about it and nobody seems to know what’s going on with it or if it is even still operational.

KeymasterThe thing that is kinda niggling me is that there doesn’t seem to be anything out there, in any category, cooking, cooling, laundry, dish that stands out all that much.
I get asked a fair bit what I’d recommend and honestly, I struggle to come up with anything that is worth saying, “Yeah, go for that”.
Other than staying away from the dodgy own label stuff on Amazon etc it’s hard to recommend much.

KeymasterThat was my thinking Jim, what the hell would I buy or even recommend to people that’s actually worth recommending at all?

KeymasterYes but note, the expected life is not defined so it is in the eye of the beholder and what would be considered to be “reasonable” but completely without any form of guidance.
You can’t just pluck bits out of any piece of legislation that fit your claim/argument, it’s viewed as a whole and all the bits and pieces of it play into one another and operate in harmony. So sure you can argue the case on that one phrase but, all the rest of the CRA also applies as well and that may well not fit with your claim.
And you have the right to seek remedy but, that isn’t a guarantee you’ll get one.

KeymasterKinda but, good luck getting anywhere with it. They might give some sort of concession but that’s the best you can hope for without a fight I’d reckon.
