    Re: Magnetic Refrigeration

Thats a laugh, customer today just scrapped their Whirlpool FF Model ARC 4030UK1 as the PCB has gone tits up after 3 yrs.

Appliance was £300 new, the replacement PCB is £150 plus Vat, so there looking at +£240.00 repair.

So they will drive off too Curry`s for a replacement, whilst this very clean and smart Fridge will create a toxic waste for now reason.

The PCB is the size of my palm, only has a few relays etc etc, probably cost pennies to make and ship out.

And now Whirlpool wants to be Green. :rolls: :rolls: :rolls: :rolls: :rolls: :rolls:

    It stinks.

No you don`t need a van full of spares. 😉

You`ve not worked for a major company ?

Whats the point of testing an appliance if the return to the safety devices are faulty :rolls:

So you test the whole equation, i.e the whole circuit from safety devices to the appliance. 😉

If you can clear 2 jobs at £30 an hour 8hrs a day 5 days a week, not bad money.

    That is £9,600 a month.

    Or £115,200 a year.

    I luv calculators. 😆

I got it from this on the previous page.

I`m not hostile, if someone lies to promote their business, kinda makes me lose respect for both them and there business.

Also I hate window dressing, I think most of us have come across cowboys, in my experience they tend to make themselves look more professional.

All the work I`ve done on inspections for different groups have been on work carried out by individuals over promoting there abilities.

I`ve yet to come across non gas qualified people who don`t use Gas safe/Corgi logos on there vehicles or adverts, same with registration bodies.

    Re: 0800 Repair

If that guy is the head of 0800 does speak volumes in his writing.

Anybody who has to pretend to be someone there not is not a good advert for there product.

Had he stated who he was and answered the questions might have made me believe they would be a welcome addition to the industry.

Neon screwdrivers are supposed to be bad for you according to my local City & Guilds Electrical teacher type chap, too much risk on getting a shock. 😆

I think he`s the same HSE guy that now puts Health warnings on xmas crackers as being Explosives and as such cannot be sold to under 16 yr olds. :rolls:

My best tool would be my Torq bits and a pack of 600 mg Ibuprofen.

    Also my megger. 😆

    Re: meggers

Part P only applies to new anything.

If your removing for access or replacing a socket for a socket its not an issue.

Having said that HSE will be unhappy if your not competent, as Engineers you should have formal qualifications, if not your in the brown stuff.

DIY is differen,t as your not charging and working in your own premises, once you leave that you have to be competent and provide evidence of your competency.
