That is one reason not to become a Franchise, 0800 business plan seems to be sided towards building a business attractive enough to then sell on.

Ring the brand for spec info, should be in the instructions, if not check with British Standards.

If the wrong jet was fitted oven would not stay lit as the FSD would not warm up enough to come off bypass. :rolls:
Common mistake when peeps buy continental burners, they work in reverse, ie the hottest part of the oven is the lowest point.
Placing a grill tray or some form of tray on the lowest shelf can help, or just reduce temp slightly and don’t use further down than the middle shelf.
UK cooking instructions on food packaging/recipes has yet to catch up with the 21 st century, should happen soon as range style oven are all generally continental style.

If someone is prepared to give you the finger whilst you are pointing a camera at them, I would be surprised if having lost there job they did not make a visit in person to you and possibly cause at least a scene if not become abusive and possibly violent.
Maybe its the city I live, but usually the birdie is followed closely by some undesirable attention.

ParticipantRe: customer wants part numbers
I agree never isolate unless they agree the repair and paid both a call out charge and a deposit for parts and be sure your receipt clearly states deposit are non refundable unless the parts are obsolete or above a reasonable level, the law is used more now, so the days of hand written paper work are well and truly over, you need to invest in terms and conditions printed on the back of everything.
Saying that, so that you don’t aggravate the situation write back giving your stock part numbers and your retail price of those parts, offer a discount of 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} percent on top of those prices if bought from you, but price so that your price is slightly lower than the average price elsewhere. Expalin your charge only covered the call out, time and your costs etc etc and that due to the time frame, (your not obliged to chase the client)you will not refund.
That way you look reasonable to anybody giving them advice, hell you offered a discount in a time when inflation is growing, so a price 9 months ago will differ from today anyway.
If that does not work, tell them to refer any further correspondence to your solicitors who will act on your behalf.

SAMURI wrote:If the 0800 engineer in the photo is his own boss running his own business how can he be sacked.
His contract could be withdrawn and likely he’ll drop at least 80-90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of his work instantly.
Will 0800 buy him out as Mike said he is his own Boss running his own business.
I doubt it, he may even get sued for the damage caused to the business.
I am independent and the only person who could sack me is myself or if I went out of business through lack of customers.
True but if you loose your source of income, your clients, your as rogered as any sacked employee.
If 0800 stops providing work for him what is stopping him from putting an advert or sign writing his van with a new 0800 phone number if he is self employed.
People dont ring 0800 because of the phone number, if he attempted to copy any logo or used any method to trick peeps into believing he represents 0800 he’ll be in even deeper s88te than now.
I would never be abusive to anyone as you never know if the person might be your next customer.
Or the best friend of the MD, trading standards, local press or a previous client wanting pay back.
I am not in favour of 0800 but if you are competative and provide a good service then you should not have any problems with a bit of competition.
True and it goes both ways, but using local guys whilst informing the clients that independents are cowboys at the same time is not clever, legal and desperate.
I find most of my customers prefer to use small local repairers and stay clear of the national companys.
Lets hope then that 0800 don’t notice that, as there local as well, at least that is what their web site states, hope you don’t use Pacifica’s software and that you continue to get work.
I expect the engineer just had a bad day.
From peeps I speak to he’s probably gonna get a few more.
If he has paid out for a business, and has been employed in the past, he may just be finding the stress too much as self employed is a life style not a job.
Or he’s just a 8888 that got caught.
Lets hope he does not lose his business over a stupid mistake, as he is at least contributing to the country paying tax and not claiming off the state.
I doubt he would loose his job or franchise directly, that costs money, I’d bet he’s more likely to get so much crap over the next few months or even yrs that it’ll be impossible for him to continue, it’ll be almost impossible to prove that this is done deliberately without spending even more money, once certain individuals place a target on your back, it’ll be difficult to continue.

Yet I’m still here. :eeek:

CliveÂYeah giving the birdy to a guy holding a camera has many reasonable explanations and excuses by the guilty party.
Fact is though, the only excuse is that he is an idiot and if he is that dumb imagine the trail of destruction he leaves behind.

If it took me longer than 11.30 am to complete 6 calls when I was company slave, I’d have begged for retraining, mind you the last four in the PM always seemed to drag a bit, don’t no why ;0.
A safety check can be done in sub 5 minutes, hell an earth loop takes what 20 seconds from getting out of kit into plug and button pressed, a insulation test, again fit leads to plug, press a few buttons, a minute at most.Maybe Mike your one of the slow types, 8 calls and still struggling with 3 left at 5pm or the part order, dragging out the time so it appears he’s diagnosing using his tools rather than his guessing ability.
Makes me nervous if an engineer working on the appliances currently on the market cannot cope within a reasonable area and loaded with 10 calls in 8 hours.

When you grow some and come out of hiding then you can comment on what should or shouldn’t be said. I have given as good as I’ve have taken on here. Any neutral that maybe reading will see that there is 2 sides to the argument. Without my input there would be only 1 side. As long as people trash talk 0800 I will comment. In fact read back someone asked for my comment and I duly obliged.
Like I stated its free advice, do with it as you see fit.
Anonymity is not a qualification nor is it proof of ones ability/inability to comment. Even if I was to post my name, real E-Mail address etc etc, it is highly unlikely that you’ll know who I am until you do something stupid, dangerous,or illegal, and for this reason I prefer not to run into people on here who may or may not have been on the receiving end of my current role.
An example of my work would be a case I’m currently involved in, in which a Gas Installer connected an appliance, the user used first time, user first noticed a plastic burning smell, turned around and noticed flames, the flames where said to have reached at least a meter in height. On inspection the joint was leaking badly into the appliance and ignited. The fitter had left an hour before, the user had not noticed the smell of gas. I called 3 hours later, the drop test found the system empty from 21 mbar to zero within 20 seconds, further inspection found the joint was cross threaded, due to the tightness this had caused the fitter to force the nut rather than remove and try again, the only explanation to the 35 degree bend on the gas rail containing the taps. :rolls:
Now if and when you do something very similar you will learn who I am, but you will not be able to place me with this site.
Neither will 0800, JTM and others who are currently and previously been on the end of my current role.

ParticipantRe: Thinking of moving to Spain ?
Its a pain in the rear trying to source parts, many come from main dealer outlets and they can take ages to get the bits, especially if your British working there patch.
Expats don’t tend to get on with the manana attitude, specially in the south, most end up coming back to the UK to live or in hospital with stress or alcoholism.

ParticipantRe: 0800 Repair
A bit of free advice for Mikey and Clive.
Walk away from this, soon.
As a Franchisee you have a contractual obligation not to bring the brand or business into disrespect etc etc at all times that you represent the brand. As does Mr Finger, had he not been a representative or identifiable to the brand, there would be no issue. You on the other hand are currently representing 0800 in both User Name and comments, therefore contractually you risk recourse if you bring the brand into a situation that risks that brands reputation etc etc etc.
By continuing the comments you have been making recently you may well have unwittingly tarnished the brand you represent, as a Franchisee you have the right to protect your own business anyway you feel is correct, but continuing defending 0800 in the way both you have could be seen independently very different and as a Director myself had employees acted in the way you both have, I would certainly question continuing the relationship, you should both learn to make intelligent statements without the need to argue, sometimes its better to walk away, after all if 0800 is not your business it is not your responsibility to defend it and if it is your business or your part of the management team, well you really do need to return to at least secondary education.
Not yet in the public domain maybe both your saving grace.
If this situation changes you could find yourselves in one of my favorite movies quoting The Lizard:
“He f88ked me. I’m truly ass-invaded”.

Hello.
i am digusted by that picture and as mike says i hope he gets the sack.
Yes its very difficult to promote professionalism when the people tasked are not.
I have kept out of this so far but I must stress that this thread as become a joke.
Our industry is riddled with comedians, makes up for the crap we have to put up with daily by certain clients.
I must admit this thread has started to go down hill recently.
I didn’t realise that there are so many bitter and twisted engineers out there.
Sign of the times I guess.
It is quite clear to me that this site is only for those who agree with kwatt and his chums.
Maybe time to advise you read some older threads.
0800 repair has been called thieves, con artists, bull shitters etc etc.
Not helped by themselves really, rules are not guidelines, bending them will bring attention, as you demonstrate with your attempts at a defense, when you enter our industry and use such low tactics you will p88 people off and they will fight back.
I have searched the web to try and find disgruntled customers and to date I can’t find one so all of the above is simply bull s**t and a pack of lies to discredit 0800 Repair.
You don’t need to search the web, people within the industry are getting annoyed by 0800, some of them pay you to do work and you guys are not hitting the mark.
You won’t need to write a letter to your directors, there already aware of a problem and have been made aware several times by others.
Now im sure that this post will be kicked off this thread so i have copied it and maybe i will get together with mike and make our own website and “out” this site for what it really is.
I’ve learnt a valuable less, ops spelling wasn’t one, lesson in life, never predict other peoples actions and make those predictions public. :rolls:
So 0800 are con artists.
Yup.
We’ll all i can say on that subject is this. We have never sold a crap machine from turkey and then but our own name on it and given a 10 year guarantee on it when in fact its just a cheap machine with a 9 year warranty.
Racist. You can add that to this list.
A place does not make the technology, its cumulative, from costs to research through to purchase price, how one specs a product depends on that, not who or where the product is produced.
As I said earlier the picture of the engineers is bang out of order. But really could it not have been sent to 0800 Repair? Facebook? Twitter? Really ? that’s out of order and just bitter and twisted. You are all a bunch of pee smelling old farts that really really need to take a long hard look at yourselves.
Classic.
So add to the list childish, poorly educated, racist.
What’s next?
Actually I can answer the “what’s next” question. The egotistical Kwatt will ban and delete this post, Say its off topic and that will confirm that only those that agree with slagging off 0800 Repair can post. Why egotistical? Well you only have to search his name to see he spends more time on other forums giving his two penny’s worth you go on any of these without seeing him chipping in with some comment. Anyone would think he invented the trade and runs it.Can you see what has gone wrong with this statement. :rotfl:
I will be writing a strongly worded letter to my directors to see what can be done about this slander. I will also be demanding that if any of you lot are agents that you be removed from the list.
Whats was that saying about glass houses and stones.
Now you have someone else other than Mike to attack. Can we change your user name to Pinata.
