ParticipantRe: TDS disc
u really should have a look at “trade suppliers” link i put in the relevent forum/thread… RHedleys prices i have not found to be beaten as of yet! ruddy marvelous . 😉
The online catalogue is by no means vast.. but a quick call to them they soon source the part needed while on phone.

On another side note… domestic or commercial… do u really have to accept a refund request after 5 whole months?

ParticipantRe: Should I refund the money.
hmmm… odd one i think.
What if it was a manufacturer that was caled out… 80 to 100 quid just to knock.. cant find fault… ring us back if problem arrises again.. they ring back.. cant wait another 3 weeks.. go elsewere..ring manufacturer and ask for the call out charge back?
what u think would happen then? But at the end of the day.. sometimes its best to lose money and keep customer happy for any future calls!

For sometime now I have been taking a photo via my mobile phone when working on appliances in certain situations, these are when no one is at the premisses or removing a built in appliance as I have had customers insist that it was a better fit before I took it out.
silverbroomThis is also what i am doing now… mainly on every job that i take away for repairs, The main reason i am doing this though is so i can take lots of photo’s at each stage of the strip down.. and repair..and rebuild.
I am then adding all these pictures to a disc which i am giving to the customer so they can view and see exactly what has been happening to their machine while its been in my possetion.. i am also providing a web link on the disc so they can click on it and it will take them directly to a free business hosting site ( the kind u get when u type into google for appliance repairs ) and asking them that once they have viewed what ive done they can do me the great favour of giving me a review.
This will also help if at a later date the machine develops a different fault and the customer tries to say its something ive done or changed..they have and i have the pictures to prove in certain situations that the now failed part had not been changed or tampered with by me.
It like i say though, mainly so the customer can see just how much work ive done and what ive done for their peace of mind and also mine. 🙂Also hopefully they will pass my good name on to freinds and family letting them know just how far i go for them at such a sensible labour cost.

I have only ever had one situation which wasnt that bad… but rather dam cheeky… used to tinker with PC’ a hell of a lot few year ago…
Sold a full setup to a customer and delivered, installed and showed her how to use it..all for £90.
3 year later she rang me said the cd rom was acting up, so i went rond and put in a brand new one… she said can i come back this afternoon for the money, i accepted as she seemed reliable.. no answer when i went back so i rang her..
she said ” u can go f**k yourself if u think im paying u £20… u sold me the pc in the first place so u can fix it for free.
Cheeky bitch. 😆LJDomestics
ParticipantRe: Dismantling a Hotpoint FEW 12
failed to mention a new front plate tub gasket.. and once done will check the brushes..if well worn will replace also… no extra charge. 😆
Obviously there wont be no guarantee on the gasket.. unless it fell off!

Remember DIY wm bearing replacements are never as good a job as a factory assembled one as there will always be wear across the complete running gear, no matter how small, and will always shorten the life of any new part thats then fitted. It might be a cheaper short term shortcut, but if you can do it under the 5yr parts warranty do that as you will almost certainly have a whole new drum unit plopped in as hp engineers are busy people and under pressure to sort the callouts as quick as possible. You also then get a years warranty on the workmanship too. Depending on the level of wear you can end up finding ground out stats and elements have the potential to be be damaged too. The little things then all add up and you find its nearly cost you £100 in parts :s
Im right now as we speak half way through fitting a new bearing kit and spider unit to a wm83.. new heater element.. new door gasket.. a 12 month parts and labour guarantee will be added once returned.. £99
thats a whopping £4 more than it would cost to have hotpoint go.. KNOCK KNOCK on the door. 😉

ParticipantRe: Domestic Appliance Horror Stories ?
i know that could and can be a easy mishap ( forgetting to simply release a carbon brush ) but at their call out charge.. i class it as a horror story! 😉
