yeah just found that out by stripping down the duff one…
will this clear if i keep testing or is connect gonna have to swap this over?
seems a damn shame if its faulty from new.. 3 hours ive worked on this… not counting the 45 mins it took to get it out of the customers kitchen.LJDomestics
ParticipantRe: bosch d/w shv55m03gb/79
On another note.. im in the process of giving this d/w a test before it goes back to the customers house… every now and then just as the spray arms stop rotating ( from listening to it working ) the new element tends to give off a fart like noise for about 1 to 2 seconds…then spray arms start rotating again… only seems to be happening when the arms stop rotating… although its working fine… something inside the element housing?? as its definetly coming from there… had my head stuck right in there to make sure.
Just hope the customer aint gonna ring up about this… 😕

Does anyone actually repair dishwashers on site? ive just finished this dishwasher at my workshop and it took me three hours to do with the odd ciggie break… top off and lots of mess everywhere…
I’m gonna be taking them away from now on too… ive done a few boards and door locks etc in situ but as for elements etc i think im gonna be taking them away as a rule from now on.LJDomestics
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM53 washing machine door won’t lock
Its highly possible the lock itself needs replacing.. sold loads of these locks..and fitted many also.
Quite a cheap part to replace.LJDomestics
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint SDW60 – Overfilling and only 2 weeks old
Its funny u say that about.. wish i had pushed the boat out and opted for a bosch.
Ive a bosch at my workshop as we speak..picked it up yesterday.. failed element.. its one month out of its 2 year warranty.
Although i cant knock the brand they are great products.

Hands up those out there that own and use a megger and loop tester?……………………all I can hear is tumbleweed rolling down the street. 😈In my arsenal if have
1 x Robin ELI tester
2 x Robin Meggers
2 x Metrohm Meggers
1 x Robin Multimeter
Ok so I like meggers 😆 and Robin
As for the argument of why do we need a ELI tester, then my opinion
is it is pointless making sure an appliance is safe if an earth fault has no where to go, ELI test confirms a good earth on the supply.Couple of questions you may all want to comment on is ” what testing should be done if the appliance is hard wired i.e through a connection unit instead of a 13a socket” This includes cookers which are also usually hard wired.
Built in appliances, with the connection point behind it, and you find it is a major job to remove said appliance although you don’t have to because you can do the repair insitu, test or no test?
oh viking!! i think ur just a avid collector aint ya? lol

ParticipantRe: Free Estimate.
EXACTLY.
Ive been at this game quite a number of years.. BUT only six months in my “new” town ( recently moved back to my hometown ) was THRIVING in my OLD town.. didnt need to advertise etc.. NOW im kind of in a NEW AREA .. had a customer ring me few weeks ago.. she apparently rang the local repairs centres ( 2 of them that have been here donkeys years ).. asking for quotes on new bearings… she went with me ( although my quote was the cheapest ) for ONE REASON ONLY.. i actually asked for her model number were the local well established shops didnt.. she said although u were the cheapest quote the only reason i went with u was u asked me for the model number so u could source the parts and give me a exact cost were the others just thrown a price at me, it gave me peace of mind she said. 😉
