Whirlpool AWZ121 how to test thermostats?

mikeymo wrote:I can’t really understand how I’m supposed to measure the thermostat resistance.

You can’t, the thermostats are a simple switch and not a resistive device, therefore zero ohms. In the case of these stats the terminals burn and frequently fail as a result. Look closely at those stats but put your multimeter away first! 😉

I think you are putting to much theory into this TBH. Establishing the temperature is a really simple exercise. A £15 IR thermometer is all that is required.

Now that’s interesting, how exactly would that work? You mean the user has to overdose to such an extent that several litres of water in the tub turns instead to bubbles?

Heater coming on with no water in tub I would think. Whether it’s gold plated or eBay cheap junk a succession of failed heaters cannot self-destruct one after the other in this way.

……or just look up the PNC on TDS-online for the ‘Factory Code’ then look up that code in the section marked ‘Problem Report’ 💡

(100’s of factory’s listed there in dozens of different countries including sub-contractors)

26 ohms reading on both stats? They should both be zero ohms (dead short) and you say the element also reads 26 ohms? Has your multimeters dial stuck like the proverbial village church tower clock?

Most U1661’s use and electronic PTC sensor rather than conventional stat so not adjustable. What is the full model number (ENr no) of the oven anyway?

Re: Inaccurate temperature – NEFF U1661

In order to establish a correct temperature reading the thermostat needs to cycle (on and off) at least twice,. Better still three times then check the thermometer. Most cheap oven thermometers are less than accurate and the laser type much more useful.
