Vaguly remember a post about a similar prob on a Bosch machine and that you could only test it with washing in it.. not sure if it was the same machine and I can’t find the post and I am sure someone else would have pionted you to the post but in the event of straw grasping might be worth a try..

Hmm.. not sure that is the right part Chris.. I typed in that part no. at Masterpart and picture shows a round fan oven element.. I havn’t got an accout with Madocks so difficult to check that one..

The oven in question has no fan and looks like it works like a top oven with part of the grill element and a base element to heat the oven.. It’s the grill element I’m after..

    Thanks

Many years ago when Irish jokes were all the rage, ending up doubled up in a supermarket when I came across a packet of Richmond Thick Sausages – Irish Recipe.. (think you can still get them today)

Also knew a couple who were expecting and were telling what names they had chosen for a girl or boy.. they had decided to call the baby Wayne if it was a boy until it was pointed out that mabye they might reconcider… their surname was Deer..

Got a customer called Christmas… often wonder what his kids called him..

Hmmm.. Thanks for the reply Hpoint but the holes in the concreete look the standard 1-1.5″ dia and the bolts look like the now standard 1/4″ without to much damage to the shaft.. would have expected to see a lot more damage to the bolt if it had worn this much from the weight hole..

The more I think about this the more I am convinced that all the tub potrusion that normally fits into the weight hole has worn off but it’s just that it all looked so neat and there is no fluted metal washer that normaly the weight sits on fitted.. I just wondered if the design had changed..

Not seen many of these welded tubs yet and this is the first weight prob I have come across so far…

It deffinatly needs something other than just the clamp pressure of the bolt to stop the weight from moving again, even some sort of dished washer or have the designers at Indi/ hotpoint really lost their marbles altogether.. 😯

Anyone else any thoughts or comments?

Check the magnet is not loose as some times the magnet unscrews and dosn’t always show itself buy pushing tacho cover off.. this will cause symptoms you describe and I have had a few do this..

Worth a try before anything else as elecronics sense the speed is wrong and pushes it through the program.. main indicator is that the first time it fills on wash the motor trys to go into spin speed instead of wash speed then impulses through the rest of the program..

Other than that I would check out tacho circuits for o/c or earth fault

Hmmm.. no replies to this as yet… 🙁 .. think you all must be on hols or worked off your feet…thought there might be someone out there with access to wiring diag or might have helped out with a suggestion..

Suspect top oven stat selector as no live to grill elements but didn’t want to fit to just test if someone knows different or I could prove one way or other..

    Thanks

Sorry late getting back on this Jim, been away for a week.. but went today.. fitted knob and as you suspected out of position out by 90 deg.. had a look to see if possible to turn timer to compansate but meant drilling new screw holes and possibly extending a couple of wires.. Customer happy with blob of white paint for new indicator position.. Other than that timer knob just the job and you have made a little old lady very happy…

She gave me a drink for you.. so if you are around in Brum sometime theres a drink waiting for you… 🙂 Thanks for all your help Jim.. much appreciated..

Re: Fiber Glass Matting Repairs to Plastic Outer Tubs?

    Thanks for the ideas folks..

Have pached the odd one or two if it has been above the water line with a patch cut from the old type polyplastic containers and stuck on with superglue and sealant but its had to be a flat surface and I havn’t risked it below the water line.. but had one or two on the curved edge lately and was looking for ideas..

The aluminium sheet sounds good and see a use for those old pieces Hotpoint used to put in their twin tub spin bearing asy that used to shim out the imperial pully – ideal… but where do you get your aluminium sheet from M1?
