Crack on ken. Nothing untoward happening from me. It’s there in black and White.
Personally I don’t think your publish it anyway as it’s pro 0800 repair.

No Ade let me go slower for you. I can undertake ANY work I like negotiate what money I like etc etc etc. And has a self employed person I don’t get sick pay or holiday pay. Although I do put money away to take care of the above. I take what days off like. I suppose you could say that I’ve got the best of both worlds all the support of a big company and all the freedom as a self employed.
Ade oh please solid proof. I will tell you this. I will let you lot poor cold water on the which report and when your all done I will publish the article in full then people can make there own mind up. I’m never going to show all my cards at once. All I will says is this 0800 never recieved one negative point in the report but the rest did. How would you rate it then??

The main myth part of my post was supposed to come out as a quote from Lee. That is not my opinion at all. Although I guess you knew that anyway. My appliace skills are much better then my IT skills.
On the point about meters. Earth loop, earth continuity, earth insulation and socket polarity is what I check on each visit. Sorry if I’m not working to your standard but I work to my standard that keeps me out of court and jail.
On which. There was an article around June this year which had mocked up a cooker fault were that a over heat stat on a neff oven had failed. If my memory serves me correct. 0800 repaired it for £60. Comet took to long to order the parts so the researcher got a refund Repaircare fitted a stat from a beko cooker and the two indies one charged over £100 and I believe the other didn’t know the fault and declined the repair. Or something like that.
Well that says to me that 0800 came out on top cheapest and quickest.
On the point about WP. I can work for who I want when I want. Yeah 0800 take a cut but so what. If it ain’t a problem for me then why should it be for you.On the point about being indie. It seems to me that ken excluded me as an indie some pages back. I considered myself an indie but my peers decided I didn’t fit the mold. Please don’t expect me to defend the very people who have banished me. Please don’t worry I ain’t losing sleep.
As for the charity work that 0800 encourage. As you have no PR ken I can only take your word for it. The last time I checked you integrity wasn’t being questioned only 0800s. I am just pointing out that I and the other franchises do our bit for the community. Call it a PR stunt if you like but people have benefited from our community work. I didn’t mention the free repairs I have done for a family for a disabled child and the £50 toysrus voucher I sent last Christmas to a family who lost there baby son to cancer and wanted to brighten up there others sons Christmas. Or the family I helped who son lost his legs aged 16 month to meningitis who was trying to raise £20000 for new limbs from the US. But as you say ken its all PR.
This all reminds of a quote by Jose Mourino about Arsene Wenger. I’ll let you guys work out what I mean. And no ken I’m not making reference to you.

I know the machine well. I would change the module. If it doesn’t show a fault then normally it’s the module. Does the machine fill and circulate in those first few minutes?

Where do you get your figures from or are they just made up. Is this an indication of what you do. I use my meter on every job, firstly so I can work safe and not be electrocuted and once I’ve left so not to kill little tommy. I also use a socket tester and an earth loop tester.
May I remind you that in which magazine 0800 repair came TOP in a survey. And your fellow indies came BOTTOM. Now if 0800 came bottom you would all be gathering like vultures to pick at the bones. I suppose 0800 must have paid which magazine like dasa.
Why would anyone need to check components on a pcb???? The way to prove a pcb is faulty is to check everything coming away from the pcb ie pump,motor etc etc. That way you prove by a process of elimination using a meter. I aint no electronics engineer, if I was I wouldn’t waste my time fixing washing machines.On giving refunds. Have YOU Lee heard of the term “the bigger picture”. Why would a company need to defend an engineer?? If a mistake does happen (as they do) giving a refund or replacing a part free of charge is great customer service.

Oh and thanks for the spell check tip. As an Ipad user you should be aware that the key pad is difficult to navigate and the word predicting is a killer. On a final note. Last Christmas I collected 200 presents using my van and £1600 for the local baby unit and children’s ward. I stood outside in the freezing cold for 3 Saturday’s, 0800 supplied a flat screen tv as well. Also on that note a engineer had the cheek to leave Hoover and oh wait should I say yeah why not he left to work for another company omg. How dare people move on.
Why don’t you go and knock on de engineers door and ave da chat wid him and maybe start a rap band.Say what you want Jessica just maybe make it interesting rather then just popping up with one sentence here and there confirming what has already been said and just that you are there.

It’s called an iPhone Jessica. I can view my emails order parts and check in on ukw. I’m still on the road as I write. I’m very busy at the moment. I need another van and engineer tbh.
IMHO young people don’t have a place to train without having to pay. Manufactures ain’t taking on apprentices any more and personally I need an experienced engineer. Not a youngster who would cost to much to insure on my van and I would just to watch me. Let’s face it if you can’t insure them to drive what’s the point in paying them to watch. If the government pay me some dish I’d gladly take on a yob sorry I ment youngster.

Jackal. Pls forgive me I didn’t know about your law degree.
All I can say is my understanding is that the franchise agreement is very different to the sub-contractors agreement.
When I say I won’t have people walk all over me. That is nothing to do with what has been written on here by who ever. That is a statment about me as a person.
I cannot and will not attempt to change an opionin of any persons on here or where ever. However I reserve the right to comeback and answer or reply to something I believe is factually untrue, I stress (what I believe). What I write is designed to offer a different opinion. That’s all. I’m sorry if it doesn’t come across that way.
Of course 0800 could set up 0845 repair at anytime. But I’m
not going to loose sleep on that one. But if they did I would fight fire with fire.
On same note If I was employed I wouldnt waste my time about the employer making me redundant. If you can’t change it then there is no point worrying about it. My point is this. I’ve been screwed by employers, I have been screwed whilst being self employed. What I can say in 7 years as an agent for Jtm and in two years as a franchise. I have been treated with respect and dignity yeah there are ups and downs. But compared to previous experiences it’s like a dream job to me.No contract (unless your Wayne rooney) is worth the paper it’s written on. Doesn’t mater if it’s employment or a commercial agreement. You may as well write on toilet paper and flush it down the pan after both parties have signed it. Infact I have never seen a contract that doesn’t swing massively in favour in the author of the contracted. But does that deserve constant attacking of 0800 repair. Well IMHO I think that’s unfair. If they were operating above the law then fair enough.
One final point to jackal. As I said earlier I generate lots of my own calls. Customers ask for me by name when they call. I’ve been self employed before 0800 and will be after. If I decided I had to leave because the work dried up I would have nothing to worry about. I have come close to being bankrupt before it doesn’t scare me neither will I worry about it. My point is this whatever is around the corner will not beat me it can only make me stronger.
Ade. They can stick as many subbies or employed staff as they want in an area not owned by a franchise and my understanding is that the same is true for the man in a van areas.
Jessica. I find it quite uncomfortable a man calling me “babes”. Please refrain from it. And also in 1966 you watched black and White tvs and couldnt imagine what a mobile phone or the Internet would do for the world. Just because you have been in this since 1966 doesn’t mean that automatically makes you right. Sorry but facts make you right and I haven’t seen any from you yet.

Oh sorry jackal but unless you have read my contract then I’m sorry you are seriously mistaken. What is naive is that all your lot believe you all know better then the man who holds the license. Do you not think that I haven’t paid for a franchise expert lawyer to check my license before signing in the dotted line.
The areas covered are both by post code and by name. I.e Chelmsford,Braintree etc etc are mine both the post code and the name. You are also mis-informed with regards to the license. The license gives me exclusive rights to operate under the agreement for the area/post codes I have purchased.
I also have in writing that any paying customer (however they recieve the money) in my area is exclusively and legally mine. No less no more.
Also you are correct they don’t gaurantee anywork load that isn’t there. That’s why I find my own work and have brought many of my own customers to 0800.
Sorry jackal but your not talking to some idiot desperate to part with 20k. I have been in this trade for many years employed, self employed etc etc.
I was also a franchise with indesit many years ago. Worked with out a contract and when they tried to shaft me I left. Oh and thank god I did.
See unlike many I won’t be walked over by anyone. So I have no problem with 0800 repair what so ever. If someone is given a call in my area by mistake then that said person has to as per the agreement pay me for my loss. So thanks for your legal advise but sorry don’t need it.
And just for the record IF 0800 tried to screw me then they would find themselves being screwed much harder by me. But as I have said that ain’t going to happen.Re: 0800 Repair

Oh please. How can they stick someone in my area. The area I cover is legally mine. Every call that drops in my area HAS to come to me. That’s how franchises work, you purchase the license for a designated area. I’m not bothered if someone purchases the neighbouring area. Sorry if we are going down the ifs buts and maybes road then as my father once told me only a fool worrys about ifs buts and maybes.
Actually I believe it’s 12 franchises now But there is over 60 yellow vans on the road. Franchises, Employed and sub-contractors (in a van) and it’s growing weekly. So as I said queuing at the door.

Ain’t going to say I’ve always been paid on time and that mistake haven’t happened, as I’d be telling fibs. But equally I ain’t going to say I haven’t made mistakes like forgot to invoice on time or return un-wanted parts.
In fact I’ve can’t remember a company that has always maintained an 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} payment success. With indesit it could be the first week of the month or the 2nd sometimes even the 3rd.
I’d say if you want to know the exact date your going to be paid then become employed!! Business owners are always chasing payments from the likes of schools and letting agent etc etc some are good but most are bad.
And before I’m accused of behaving badly I must say jessica I struggle to find any of your posts to be anything other then jumping on the band waggon of others.
Sorry if that is personal but she/he reminds me of a wasp.

I have paid no more for my franchise them I used to per year for yell. Difference is that fee is for 5 years and not 1. To me that is value for money!!!! Obviously you have lost work and believe 0800 have stolen it from you by misleading the customer. To date as far as I know there are no complaints from customers regarding being misled.
You have made your points over and over and contacted asa why not let them find what they find then you can shout from the tallest building with the biggest megaphone that you were right all along. Till then like dasa and like the 0800 repair directors maybe a dignified silence is now in order.
For the record. No one as access to this account other then me. Unless I’m very much mistaken and not to be confused to be having a dig at this site. This can be checked as my posts are either from my home ip adress or my iPhone ip. That’s it no one else.
I do not need to be a director of 0800 repair in order to care what is being said about the company. I do indeed hold passion for 0800 as it has changed my life from an indie struggling for work to a franchisee so busy I need another engineer to help.
Indies are queing at the door to join the engineer ranks either as franchises or as contractors in a van or employed . Every month it gets bigger and bigger.
However if I was a director I would be hell bent on sticking even more vans in your area for payback for the storm you have whipped up. But that’s just me. I’m sure the directors have got bigger fish to fry then you.
Ade you have fought you corner well. I applaude your efforts. But it ain’t going to change a thing other than a few line changes on the website. 0800 will still be in the top 3 on google. Tv adverts are still going to air, And customers will still think of money before they think of loyalty.
If all you efforts are to get a few line changes on a website then the time you have spent far outways the results you will recieve.
I’m am interested in finding out when you became so passionate about this, was it when a van appeared in your area ??

Your Arguement holds no water. And you miss my point. I do well out of it, much better then when I was an indie. And for the record I have many many repeat customers so based on my experience that statement is a fact. How much is advertising a little or too much? What wrong with me paying my hard earned money on getting in the top three? So I shouldn’t earn money, I have no right to trade? come on this is a joke right?

I hear you Ade. But being in the top free doesn’t cost the earth. Anyone can do it. My mate in the trade is in the top 3 and competes with me. It ain’t a problem. We hope each other does well. As I do you. To me it’s just competition. We do a good job at a fair price. That’s the important part of all this.
I ain’t in this to rip customers off. The customer finds us and we do a good job. Simples. There is plenty of work out there for everyone.
