Stoves/UK made Belling every time. Made in Liverpool, excellent quality. They are the best built in gas ovens out there at the moment……. Excellent quality is pushing it a bit though, nowhere near the quality they used to be.
It’s all relative. Is anything as well made now as 25 years ago?

“Good morning Mrs. X, this is M…. from ****** regarding the call we’ve got booked for today to look at your oven”
“Oh yes, what time will you be here?”
“I should be with you between 10 and 11 this morning”
“That’s no good, I walk the dog at 10.30, I’ll be out for about an hour, but you can wait for me”Of course, can’t upset the dog’s routine!

GDHA have the contract with Howdens (who supply the builders with the appliances) to repair the Lamona (howdens own) brand. The washers are Hoover, fridges Beko, dishwashers Beko, ovens/hobs could be Beko, Samsung or Stoves.

Possible open circuit solenoid for the condenser water supply. Won’t show up as an error in diagnostics.

Wasn’t a Beko was it?

ParticipantRe: comet…again!!!
As an ex Comet engineer, my opinion is that the service side was poorly managed. too many rash decisions made without any consultation with the people at the front line. Even when it was patently going wrong (and I’m talking about almost 3 years ago) anyone who offered constructive criticism and suggestions of how we could work smarter and more effectively was brushed aside. To my mind, the suits with the money got their feet in the door and systematically ate away from within with a view to feathering their own luxurious nests.

ParticipantRe: Moral Dilemma…What would you do?
What a lot of saintly holier than thou engineers frequent this forum. I have been involved with whitegoods repairs for over 30 years and STILL things go wrong unexpectedly. The point I would like to make is that ONLY when I have achieved total perfection in everything I do, ONLY THEN do I have the possible reason to decry someone for a genuine mistake. That day is a long way off!
There are always more than one way to skin a cat as, they say.
Peronally in this instance I would be completely honest about what has happened as bullsh1t has a habit of landing back at your feet. If the guy in question is a friend, he will know your integrity (hopefully) and may even say “oh yeah, I remember the plumber dropping that come to think of it”.
Worst case – offer to replace the module F.O.C. or go 50/50 with him on the cost. Stuff happens -FACT!mirmay

Quite correct, But it may be there will be a token “Comet” website trading and the high street shops will go.

Sainsbury’s electricals were also supplied by the Comet infrastructure. When that came about was when we (engineers and delivery) were re-branded as OnCall and we were under threat of disciplinary action if we let slip to a Sainsbury customer that we were part of Comet.
I resent the “jack of all makes” comment as myself and my colleaugues were justifiably proud of our skills, we were just let down by the management and the admin staff at head office.
I, for one, will not shed any tears over the demise of Comet after the way the engineers were treated and I have a small amount of satisfaction that the yes-men within managemant who refused to take on board our constructive criticism of the way things were going, and refused to accept suggestions to improve productivity/results and swept us aside now eill have their retribution.mirmay

I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong on this but It seems as if you have followed correct procedure.
In fact sleep easy, you have probably gone above and beyond what was actually required of you for which you should be applauded as many would not have taken the initiative and just turned a blind eye. If only more tradesmen were as conscientious………..

ParticipantRe: Gas Safety Question
I would say that is RIDDOR reportable. Dagerous in the extreme. Given that it is a plastic push-fit cap behind a cooker with the capacity to produce enough heat to melt it, it’s a disaster waiting to happen. Whoever did this is insane. (IMHO)
