Circa 1982 First Van after leaving Hoover.
    Cost me £200.

Used to park it in the town center when I was taking a day off to get the sign noticed.

The subtitle read: Automatics – Twin Tubs – Vacuum Cleaners

Re: Lucrative Dishwasher Money going west

Had a quick look at a Dishwasher for a neighbour of a customer.

    Hotpoint FDW60P

    Symptoms – Low insulation
Water pours out from base when tilted back slightly.

Going back tommorow for a proper look.
With my washing machine hat on I would be looking straight at element and motor for low insulation.
I guess on a dishwasher It could be the door harness although machine is under 2 years old.

And the water in the bottom, could it be deep enough to saturate any electrical components? I have read about the outlet hose melting because of its proximity to the heater. Could this be soaking the heater causing low insulation?

Finally, how do I gain access to all the main gubbins?

This is a pic of the bosch dishwasher I mentioned yesterday that I went to went to today.
The hole at the bottom center is the outlet to the drain pump.

Can’t see any way of getting at impellor from here?

(Might look odd as my phone reverses the image)

I’ve probably not explained it very well, but I’m sure once you see it, your previous experience will kick in.

Printed your explanation off to remind me when I get there. Fortunately customer has already de-souped it for me.

    Muchos Gratias Dave.

Check the wiring from the stat to the element. Some have a thermistor enclosed within the heatproof sheath. A continuity test should do it

    Follow up on this repair.

    Float was indeed gunged up.
Dryed out and cleaned up with wd40.
    Works a treat.

Do this model have a thermistor between rear stat and element?

Martin, I am shocked that my name and the Bodge word have appeared on the same page.. 😯

I care passionately about my customers, doing a good job and a long lasting repair.

Do you think I’m mad? I am busy enough already without the hassle of call backs for ‘bodged’ jobs which would be covered by my guarantee anyway. I would pack up tomorrow if I didn’t think I was doing my best by my customers, and yes getting there machine going when they are desperate is a part of that.

However I take on board what you say, and I have spoken to my friend Kash at connect and negotiated a good (better than internet) price for a Large selection of Brush and Holders, in addition to what I carry already.

I would like to learn more about carbon brush composition, laminations etc. hardness etc. Do you have any references I could study?

Re: green spot pink spot carbon brush

Useful when, having travelled miles, you need a brush that you have ran out of.
Can’t say I have ever noticed wear to the housings of this kind of brush. and its a relatively simple task to solder the new brush pigtail to a short section of the old pigtail.
Have done this many times when I have had the ‘right’ brush and holder but the brush is facing the wrong way, never had any problems.

So it would be useful to have a supply of loose brushes available to get the job done 1st visit when the situation demands.

Anyone know where I can get loose carbon brush to fit all those zanussi, candy idesit machines?

    Approx size is 14mm x 5 x 32
