ParticipantRe: Hotpoint dryer belt fitting tool
If your just swapping the jockey pulley then the old belt should be a bit easier to get on, new belts i usually give a pre stretch under me boot before sliding over the drum, and if you give the belt a blast of hot air for a minute or 2 it becomes more supple.
I use an old cut drive belt to thread under the new belt and pull it taught while slowly rotating the drum

do you get a live supply to the valves at any point?
Also make sure all edge connector pins etc are really tight

As Martin said I would check draining action first.
With water in machine, choose drain only
How long does it take to completely empty?
You will hear a distinct difference in sound once it is completely empty
A machine that is draining normally will take 15 to 20 seconds

Thanks for replies
it turned out the Rocketman scenario was spot on,
Only difference was the wiring supply to cooker was scarily bad, connected to a 32a fused supply
but the thought of a loose live wire lurking in the back of a metal cabinet with such a mess of an installation! :zap:

I know I’m stating the obvious but is the condenser definitely clean
Some improvement the dryer now managing small loads after a thorough hosing out of the condenser, but still fails on large towel loads,
customer reports machine stops completely, no display for about 10 minutes, full of steam etc
