    Can you hear a faint click from the thermostat control when you turn it on/off. Perhaps around the 50’C mark?

    Is it the fan oven element or the grill element which heats up?

    Can you hear any noise from the switch (knob) you use to select the temperature?

    The element is part number 806890386 and retail price from Smeg is £42.43 excluding VAT & P+P.

    The thermostat is part number 818730401, retails at £36.70 excluding VAT & P+P.

    It’s possible that the spigot the drain hose connects to under the sink hasn’t been cut. If this is still sealed then there will nowhere for the water to drain to .

    There should be a rating plate on the door frame down one of the sides and the model number should be in the style of 02-800470 or similar.

    There are 101 thing which can cause these machines to leak, not necessarily the motor.

    I do agree with the general solution though – replace it with something better. Although I would recommend a good quality (Bosch or similar) product purchased from a local independant.

    There’s two versions – full length white one with built in solenoid or slightly shorter blue one without solenoid.
    Do you know which type it is?
