OK, fault is now cured and customer is well pleased (for now). I removed the air break unit to remove the pressure chamber unit. Strip and flush out this unit, refit all and test. Way hey no more probs π π .

ParticipantLEC as I recall was London Electric Company; I recall that when I was a lad, I was dragged up in Hanwell/Greenford area of London, there used to be a shop which had a London Electric Company sign above it. Then after a while it changed to LEC and sold fridges.
Strange what you remember when you was young π . However I am now a re-cycled teenager and fully fortified :rolls: :rolls: .
LEC, I think will be missed.

ParticipantHi Trotter,
My customer is away until mid next week, also I do not work weekends π for I need time to my family etc.
You can allways inform your customer you are looking into the the problem for it is an unusual one and will let them know ASAP the cost etc.
I hope this helps π .

ParticipantHi nomadPaul,
The customer says there is a number one in the display and takes a long time to finish, but they cancel the programme anyway, so you might be hitting the nail on the head there.
I removed the air-break with the feed tube to the base of machine and cleared that (slight crudge). I thought this may have been the cause of the drain pump pulsing (you never know) but it made no difference at all to the drain pump action, so I thought it may be timer related.
I will have to check the heater out on my return visit, I confess that never crossed my mind though (thanks).
Any other thoughts would be welcomed.

ParticipantThis guy is such a good electrical engineer he cant fix it!!!!! Beggars belief. I have these types myself, they know how it works and what the prob is then proceed to tell us how to repair!!!!
Keep your twenty quid Col, let him sort it. Remember peoples you are in the driving seat, you know your job, they assume they do, if they become stroppy, if they are mechanically minded or an electrical engineer then talk tekky to them, you will soon realise they know damn all. If they talk tekky back then revert to how the machine works (only in part) and then say thatβs all there is to it so now you can do it as well? They become flustered and say βah well er yesβ. I had a smart person before crimbo who is an electrical engineer, has his own business and was telling me over the phone what the problem and was and how to rectify it. To him it was the electronic card (timer) on a SMEG dishwasher that was it plain and simple. But in fact it is the air-break blocked from sink waste, he said to me he would pick up any parts required just give him the address and he would make sure I had the job done by crimbo. I told him the parts come from Italy (shut him up that did). Is the job done, well put it this wayβ¦β¦β¦. Not yet.
Col my friend, WALK AWAY and keep your good reputation in tact,
Dave

ParticipantRe: Bespoke kitchen ding dong!
Many years ago I attended a Servis quartz [remember those]. I had to drag it out from a dip [that is debatable] in the floor. When I questioned the customer she replied β the kitchen installer admitted he had not allowed room for the machine to be refitted because he had allowed the correct height for the work tops, then laid the floor tiles [he he π now stop laughing π ], so when he went to fit the machine back it would not fit [he he haa haa π π π , oops sorry just makes me laugh remembering this] so he then [giggle π oh I must stop this] he then with a club hammer and cold chisel :rotfl: cut out a hole for the machine to fit into [sorry, giggle giggle :rotfl: ]. Oh boy what a mess on the floor, I cant comment on the condition of the machine. Sorry have to go now I just cant stop laughing.

ParticipantRe: How much to charge for parts?
Martin has it about right 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} ish. Remember the longer the guarantee the more it will cost your customer. If I have to order any parts I charge Β£35 plus vat as a deposit and deduct this off the final cost, it is all written down for the customer to see. This way the customer usually wants the job done, and if they donβt you come away with at least something for your efforts. By the way this deposit is non refundable and only lasts for 7 days after letting the customer know the cost of repair.

ParticipantRe: ASKO spares
Hi all
I would like to thank you both for the info, THANKS.
Sorry I havent been back here before now, I have been soooo busy, truly unbelievable. I have never had to pay the vat man so much, ouch.
I would like to come to the meeting this coming weekend, however I was going to a reunion of old class mates on Saturday but a friend of mine has invited me and Wendy to a 60th bash that he is paying for, at a posh hotel/restaurant, this includes a stay over till Sunday, so guess who wins. Sorry lads, maybe next time I and my camera ma (I hope to) turn up. I confess it would be nice to catch up with you all in person.
Have a most brilliant weekend, donβt get to drunk, and give me an occasional thought eh.
Thanks again.
