    Re: 0800 Repair

    Cut and pasted from Ade

“DASA allow 0800 Repair to become members of DASA. Not Associate members, but bonafide members, the same as any other DASA Member.

DASA are aware, or at least they should now be aware, that 0800 Repair use another company, JTM Contracts (they’re under the same Pacifica group, but are separate companies) to cover areas where 0800 Repair have no Franchisees. JTM Contracts are not DASA Members, neither by bonafide membership, nor associate membership. Therefore… DASA has in place, a COP and other consumer protection routes that a consumer can use if a dispute occurs between them and any engineer employed to carry out a repair. But by DASA allowing a member (0800), to use engineers that are not connected to DASA or 0800 Repair in any way, are in effect allowing the use of reputation and their name, but without having any authority should an issue arise. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t, or couldn’t that affect the consumer?

Then I ask, what’s the percentage of repairs carried out by 0800 Repair Franchisees with JTM Agents? Could it be possible, that the majority of repairs are carried out by JTM Agents, that are in no way regulated by DASA as opposed to 0800 Franchisees that have by force of contract, joined DASA? Hmmm… I’ll come back to that!

For me, the most worrying thing now is that since I posted last night, a small handful of people have contacted me to state that they carry out work for 0800 Repair, and have NO affiliation with DASA and in one instance have told 0800 Repair that they will never join DASA regardless. After my conversation with a DASA Management member this morning, that is blatant disregard by 0800 for the deal done between DASA and 0800 Repair* IMO.

    * FAO DASA… Please don’t contact me for names regarding the above statement as I will not give details. I was asked this morning to provide names etc to back up the above and I refused bluntly as that isn’t my place. I’m simply bringing to your attention an issue that isn’t right and should be addressed. However, a bit of effort looking in to the above, and you’ll find yourself the facts yourself…”

I see you have conveniently ignored the rest of that post I said about, I have to wonder why, however, if you are a member go to a meeting, put your point in a succinct and precise way,and make sure you are satisfied by the reply. Then report back here accurately, what you asked, and the response. Only then and only then, can you make any justified comment. You cannot make comment on a few minutes phone conversation you had. If you are not a member or an Associate member, ask if you can be invited to the next meeting to put your comments accordingly.

By the way I don’t want names, I don’t need names, it is not necessary, I know to whom you spoke, and I know what was said, and I know it has been taken from context. Please refrain from taking things out of context, it is misleading, and can lead to a lot of misunderstandings. Try not to get annoyed by my response, it would only go to show again misunderstandings and different views, which each of us are entitled to. DASA is misunderstood here due to previous posts of many many years ago, I am sure you do not really want that to happen again.

I sincerely appologise for hiJacking this post, it was not my intention to do so, but a comment was made to which I responded, the commenter replied and I immediately understood there position by what was said, the rest is unfortunate fall out, so my sincere apologies again.

    Regards

PS: If any one has any queries concerning DASA please contact the DASA office, ask to come to a meeting and put your views, this way you will be actually aware of the situation and where DASA is today, not where it was yesterday.

    Re: 0800 Repair

Apparently it was the internet advertising of 0800 that said we are DASA members, when in fact the 0800 were not, JTM were and are Associate members.

DASA asked JTM about this, and requested that part of said advert to be removed, when this was not done it was suggested in that case the 0800 side pay there membership dues, which they have.

It was also suggested by another Associate member who is a work provider, that they put it to there agents to become members of DASA. As you can see things are not as clear cut as they would seem.

DASA gets the blame and is made a scapegoat, when in fact the Association acts in a proper way. I cannot make comment about WTA as I am not a member, I would assume they would act in similar manor should the opportunity arise, but that is an assumption.

I hope this clarifies things for you all.

Have a good weekend all, and don’t have nightmares.

    Re: 0800 Repair

It is as it is, therefore it wont be as anything else.
Chris Hayter left a long while ago, DASA is run by its own, and that is as it is, and it wont be anything els,e unless it wants to be, and then it may change as everything else does, and will change.

So there we have it dont we!!!!!!!

    Re: 0800 Repair

Hi, I have kept a watch here purely out of interest. I see Jess 1ca say they were original members of DASA about 25 years ago, and they have been out of DASA since 1998. I have been a member of this esteemed Association for over 28 years, and I am NOT an original member, by that reasoning, I cant see how some one can state they were original members 25 years ago when the Association is now in its 32nd year. Unless they know better and can of course prove it, but I am just being pedantic here as this can be my nature from time to time.

Next is the point of where is DASA, seeing Jess 1ca has been out of the Association for a long period of time she just cannot make a statement about the Associations comings and goings. Just because the Association does not broadcast what it is doing does not mean to say it is doing nothing. I am not going to get on my soap box about the Association here on this esteemed site. I done that in the long distant past.

Both the WTA and DASA are working for the benefit of all appliance repairers, both have the same aims to benefit members, but, they have totally different approaches; one of DASA’s, is the associate members who have agents who do work for that associate member, should belong to the association, like I have said, it is because they do work for that associate member. Now, in these hard times someone wants to cut links to a work provider because this is requested of them, that is there decision, I think it is more to cutting your nose off to spite your face, and may cost dear, this is just is my thought.

Next, DASA can speak for itself, it does not need a humble member like me to speak for it, I know there are Officers of DASA who are members here, so they may or may not want to make comment, this is up to them, however I think this should not be a DASA bashing situation, for it will not do anyone any good in the short or long term.

Ha, ha,ha,ha, 😆 😆 😆 😆 Installers dont you LOVE THEM (not), machine snug under unit, floor up to machine, customer has a go because you cant remove said machine, you have seen it as I have. Installers, supplier/installer, floor layer companies, electricians, plumbers, the vast majority cant seem to grasp the thought of the “IF” or ” THE SHOULD IT” fail it needs to come out syndrome.

Went to a guy the other day, I just could not get to the rear left leg to raise it so machine could be brought over a tiled up to the machine sinario. As the machine was under insurance, and I am agent for a particular company, I rang them to ask what they wanted me to do, I was informed it is down to the customer make sure the appliance can easily be removed. I put the customer on to the guy, and the customer went ballistic at him saying it would cost him a fortune bla bla, and he wanted a refund of his money! I put the machine back, he said he would think about it. 😕 😕 😕
