ParticipantIn that case, let that be known to them and ask them to sign an agreement of your terms etc, including if you need help to remove any appliance that may be glued in, yes glued in, even screwed down, if any one could accompany you while you are there incase there is a query on damage or if they claim that items have been taken, so on and so forth.
What if you injure yourself whilst there, who is going to help you! its happened to me several times, so cover yourself at all times. They may moan and say know one can leave the office etc, tell them its part of the HSE at work agreement, and insist on it. I did and it is surprising how someone would agree to be there.
They would ask you to sign a contract, so you ask them to sign your terms of agreement as said above. In other words, “cover your backside”, you would be very surprised at how many guys out there in rented properties try it on.

HI I live in the next County to you. It does not matter who the Estate agent is they charge their client a rate that includes any repairs. What they should do is ask you for an estimate of repair, they ask there client, client says yes/no they get back to you and say yes/no.
I seem to remember hearing this is sharp practice for E/A’s to do, they get paid by the client and by you. I was doing work for an E/A in Northampton some years ago, they came to me and said much the same thing, I told them to go away, I am not paying any one to give me work, especialy when they get paid for it anyway.

One is o/c tangtegial fan, you can trace lead from stat to fan to check the other is c/c and may have one white in and one whit out, it also has a red dot on the top.

Rocker, I think you will find it is the safety stat at the rear, it cuts out when the temp is too high and cuts back again when cooled down. Its a typical bimetal situation. If memory serves me well I think it is fitted via the Neutral on the r/h/s as you face it from the rear.
I hope this helps.

Removed lower basket, same, remove top and it stopped, weird.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint dishwasher DWF70SB
It makes no difference at all, the top basket can be in the lower or higher positions. In the higher the arm seems to catch against the plastic nut securing the water venturi pipe as it enters the machine. If that makes any sense to you.

ParticipantRe: Gone back in time
I am at present trying to explain to a numpty head, the timer I replaced last year in her d/w had nothing to do with water in the base a month later. She wants a full £200+ refund. I wont go into details but, she sent me a letter after my visit, I replied. No hear for some months, then a job come thru via an Insurance company, name & add looked familiar, ah ha, same person trying it on, I refuse to go back, manufacturer refuse job, insurance want me to go, again no, for a bloody good reason, (she and hubby recon they know better than I and kept butting in and arguing with me, well would you return?) Insurance gives her mony back. She gets out another company, holes in S/S tub (write off), now wants me to still repay for job done mid last year, and recons it was the holes in the S/S tub that was the original prob.

First thing Jim, thanks for the PDF, appreciated.
Also thanks for the reply. I will make an appointment with the customer for ASAP, and recheck the heater.
This was meggered originally to be OK, also when on test when seal and switch was replaced. For the original programme set by customer had not been cancelled, so carried on when set up again, this must have been the final rinse as the heat was working at that time. On my return I will megga heater again and possibly fit one just to the connections and test, making sure no naked wires sure making an earth contact. If that fails to produce the result I would be looking for, then how do I check the PCB without the obvious expense, I think I know your reply, I don’t know unless I change it! I know its an obvious answer but I have to ask, its one of those just in case things.

ParticipantRe: Dyson w/m CR01
The screw by the soap dispenser is well worn, so I would assume they have tried this many times. OK, as long as I know I am far happier in this knowledge than before. If there was a thank you box on the site I would tick it for you.
Whilst on about that of tick boxes as thank you’s, I belong to a website for BMW F800 motorbikes, they have these tick boxes and some guys have dozens of them, I think its a brilliant idea, me, I have only the one at present, but I have only posted about 60 posts on, there are those who have posted far less than this and have one hell of a lot more thanks given, ho hum.
Thanks again Dave, appreciated.

ParticipantRe: A philosophical viewpoint
Remember peoples we make our living from all sorts of machines, good or bad. To pass comment on a customers choice of appliance to me is unforgivable, why? the customer worked hard to pay for that appliance, it was their choice, so, who are we to say otherwise. Plus, to degrade an appliance will have an affect on our returns to repair other appliances. We have to be careful.
However when offering advice via a forum is a different matter all together, if you think it is no good then obviously say it.
The question why do customers spend more an a TV than an appliance must be obvious, they have more enjoyment from a TV, now who is going to enjoy a dishwasher, or washing machine! these are tools for the customer.
We earn our living by repairing those ***** machines, if you knock it give me the business, on second thoughts, I am very busy at the mo, repairing the afore said *****.
