You paid how much?
Why the hell didn’t you contact spares@ukwhitegoods.com ? Not only do we have the technical resources, but we have the spare parts at sensible prices as well.
Oh well, too late now.

I think you all know about the Wolseley………
My biking days ended shortly after I got a line totally wrong on a bend down a back road outside Musselborough – there was a bike coming the other way and we managed to pass each other on the wrong side……….
Happy days 😯 .

ParticipantRe: Advisory Council defining it’s roll and members
I think that the possibilty of exposure is useful. It may be that the AC can reasonably post that –
“The dispute between Friendly Domestics and Mrs Nasty has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties”.
Equally –
“The AC finds that Friendly Domestics has failed to comply with the UKW Charter in the matter of Mrs Nasty and a sanction has been applied”
Or –
“The AC finds Mrs Nasty’s case to be without foundation in her dispute with Friendly Domestics.”
That’s all that needs to be said for action to have seen to taken (or not). Obviously we would have to write up a report as to the nature of any given finding and archive it – should this be accessible? On request? Generally via a link?
It would be unreasonable to report some and not others, so, all or none? If we go for none, how’s anyone to know we’re doing anything? I don’t think anyone is sufficiently daft (except maybe “Pup”) to accept that there will never be a problem, so it has to be all.
Cheers,

Carrying out a clandestine mission for the Provisional wing of UKW in Finland if the plan is working………
Either that or he’s being outrun by the errant tortoise.

ParticipantRe: RULES
“The UKW Charter.
All Trade Members wishing to take advantage of the Directories and Repairs@ facilities on the site must be signatories to the UK Whitegoods Charter.
By signing the Charter, members are additionally agreeing to come under the jurisdiction of the Advisory Council should irresolvable problems be reported to it.”
This will neatly get round the problem of “Members” and “Subscribers”. Current Directory Listers who are not signatories should be given the opportunity to sign the Charter at the earliest opportunity. In future joining either list will require compulsory signing of the Charter.

ParticipantRe: Electra 1100b wont fill with hot or cold water
That’s a rather chewed looking single level switch – 1-2-3 is the level, 4 (the centre tag) is the flood protect. Given that 1 is the common, 2 is normally closed then 3 is normally open, only closing when pressurised.
Seriously, that switch needs replacing if only to restore the correct settings. You will also need to check the heater as I suspect that the machine thinks it’s full and will have operated it – instant failure.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aquarius WD62P
There’s only one way to deal with the filter, and you’ve found it…… 🙁
As the machine cannot be back filling because of the standpipe, the problem must lie with the fill valves. Start by removing the drawer and observing the back wall of the dispenser box – you may well see a slow trickle coming down. Then it’s a matter of following the hosework back to the valves to identify which is at fault. Power off, of course.

ParticipantRe: White Knight CL447 dryer Push start!
Hold on chaps, this isn’t the 447 at the top of the thread, it’s a 767 which is a condenser………
Sorry Steve – bit of a mis-understanding. This one is a total demolition job to access the motor. The entire back panel, fan, heater and drum has to come out from memory and it is a complete sod of a job, even for us professionals. If you’re not feeling confident, I’d stop now and get some pro help.
Check Directories or Repairs@ for a UKW repairer in your area.
Apologies and regards,

ParticipantRe: Advisory Council defining it’s roll and members
Need to define the Membershp thing…… If we get a complaint through Directories it’s still going to have to be dealt with……. I suspect that for credibilty we have to cover all of it or none of it.
By the same token if we are to sell the “for the membership” idea “in house” a direct involvement in members activities must be seen on view.
Or we can sit on our behinds on the basis that the AC is here for problems that may occur once a year, in which case this is a lot of puff bother and blow for appearances sake.
Personally, I’d rather the AC was seen to be doing something, than lurking in the background as a sinister “big stick”.
