Theoretically the two year old shouldn’t affect the waterworks but, being Indesit, you never know……..

The advice and information so freely given by the appliance engineers on UKW is based on the understanding that the recipient has an understanding of the workings of his machine and that the advice will be followed correctly to allow a safe repair to be made.

Assuming that you do understand the water level control system of your dishwasher, you have so far knowingly fitted an incorrect part and blanked off the flood protection system. The appliance is currently unsafe and I would go so far as to say that you have acted irresponsibly.

Furthermore, had the flooding problem led to an insurance claim and inspection, the engineers report would have left you uninsured.

I find it particularly distressing that you have valued your hard earned cash above the safety of your machine and property.

If you can hear it humming when it should be filling, the solenoid has been activated. I would check fill hoses for kinking and the water supply actually being on.

    Re: SMEG WM16AAA bearing noise

I wouldn’t worry too much – it sounds like a “bad luck” fault more than anything; bearings are generally pretty reliable in motors. Bear in mind that when your machine hits 1600 rpm, the drive motor is doing 24,000rpm( 😯 ). After replacement it is worth considering backing the spin off to 11/1200 rpm (if you have the option) – you gain nothing with the higher spin and are encouraging component wear.

    Re: SMEG WM16AAA bearing noise

Given the age of the machine and the high pitched nature of the noise, this sounds like a motor bearing fault. I would arrange a service call quickly – the manufacturer will replace the motor rather than the bearing – out of guarantee this will cost an arm and both legs………

Re: Way off topic. Noisy light switches!!

The problem is usually that at any venue will only have one ring main supplying the stage, so PA and lighting rig share the one. Our sound man used a slider set up for the lights ands never quite took the sliders back to zero. We also set up all the switches with a three way capacitor array over the live/neutral/earth (not unlike the old Bosch/Hotpoint dishwasher suppressor array) which definitely helped.

Forward a digital photo of the offending article to admin@ukwhitegoods.com and we will have a chance of comparing the two.

Most likely some sort of thermostat failure Marc – the programmer “holds” until the thermostat clicks over and completes the advance circuit.

If you’re not sure how to proceed, check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

If you are going to investigate further, pull the plug first.

    Re: Servis M9713

Consider the alternative – the electronic board is £94.52 + VAT, Servis’ appointed engineers would not be allowed to repair the board, only replace it, plus the call out charge for an out of guarantee repair – you’d have been looking at the thick end of £200!

The engineer would have charged for the hour, regardless of whether the repair took an hour or ten minutes.

I presume you’re down south somewhere – the charge is higher than ours “oop ‘ere in’t North”, but then the overheads are that much higher as well.

Final thing to bear in mind as a general point is that the rate should be established when the apponintment is made, thus avoiding untoward surprises.

    Re: F&P Smartdrive GW701-U problem

It’s a motor sensor fault due to the slack on the stator – motor not “parking” or starting at or from the required position.

    Stator is p/no 425623.

Member Alexa is down your end of the world and may be able to advise further with regard to parts supply,

I do like the idea of 40 hours a week – it would make a nice change from 60…… Also no mention of poor parts supply, bolshy customers, rubbish product, kitchen fitting skills and really, do I have to go on? Where do I get these rose tinted specs from?

Re: Electrolux ESi 602 keeps filling up

Look, the problem with your machine is related to the water matrix under the left hand side of the casing. When it starts to get clogged up, water level control is affected. Your actions so far have been to disconnect the water valve from the flood protection system, as the clogging increases, the water level control becomes increasingly less reliable and will give the symptons you have described.

The matrix and the valve should be replaced at the earliest opportunity and the machine should not be used until then. Parts will come to about £80+VAT; if you do not understand how a water hydraulic/air pressure system works I would get professional help as soon as possible.

This is the kind of amateur dabbling that gives the professional repairers the willies……..

Whatever you do next, pull the plug first :plug:
