Thanks Ken, I’ll chase that up in the morning.

BTW, should opinion decide to let the patient live, leave them alone. I would suggest ABSOLUTELY alone, and we’ll see what happens.

This includes you Kev, put the pointed stick back behind the shed and just WAIT.

Do something radical – recommend a UKW engineer.

    Re: DASA!

The patient appears to be unconcious or possibly in a Persistent Vegetative State. A monthly statement saying “We’re still here and working on it” would give great assurance for those who believe in DASA. It doesn’t happen. So, do we visit its bedside and play familiar tapes in the hope of revival, or should we cut off the life support and wait for the inevitable?

I am no great lover of formal, institutionalised bodies; dinosaurs spring to mind every time. If we take on the mantle left by DASA, (assuming the worst) we may lose some of their now residual membership – say 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of 130 – not many – but played correctly, we can immediatley number some 350, plus whatever may be picked up from people needing somewhere else to go.

The implications are serious – we would need to smarten up our act as far as official contact and presentation is concerned. We would need to promote our own code of conduct (Nothing wrong with it) and as far as the (visible) site is concerned appear united. Perhaps one or two OTHER forums might need to disappear below the waves.

For those of you in here who are DASA members, I’m sorry to suggest this course of action. For myself, I’m sick to death of the bickering which breaks out every time that DASA is mentioned and it just goes on and ON and ON!

Kill or cure – personally I’d opt for euthanasia.

    Regards,
    Chris.

    Re: R U Ready

Look, my Dad bought me the Haynes “Washing Machine” book years ago, when I set up on my own. He may not be a washing machine engineer, but he is the archetypal “Mad scientist” (complete with shock of white hair)(Now you know where I got it from……) and he thought that this was a very funny book. It tells you……….. a bit. It helps you solve things……. a bit. It doesn’t actually tell a professional ANYTHING that you didn’t pick up in your first week in the job.

So what is the Amperage rating of a pressure switch? Does it matter? Would one of you like to convert a Crouzet 60 step timer chart into a modern digital/semi-digital programme chart for, say, a Servis? How crucial is earth leakage? How much wear is acceptable on a drum shaft – can you feel a notch, or does it just LOOK a bit worn?

THAT is the business end of this discussion. Nice of Mr Dixon to write down all the basic stuff that we tell the Public every day in the Forums, but now we need to sort out the detail Tech stuff – not for the public messing about, but for Engineers!

I might add that we are not in business to repair appliances – we are in business to make money. The fact that we happen to fix appliances should be made as simple and accessible as possible to ease the process. Logically this should improve all of our profitability.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Personally, I move with Senokot…….. NO, no, irrelevant. Also, not good at the flying thing….

Look, there isn’t a lot of dosh – yet. It would make more sense to try and round up yet more Subscribers and see where we are in a few months time. If there is Subscription money available, I would like to see it used to push UKW forward – Ad in Electrical Retailer perhaps? Not everyone uses computers continually in the pursuit of their business (Yet!), so some carefully placed publicity may move things forward on the Trade Membership front – which is what we want and need to increase our voice.

Leave some slack in the wiring and solder by all means – pull the plug first though……..

Personally, the only thing I’d supply free would be a small sub-atomic device and rid the world of these whingeing, nauseous, hideous, manipulated, utterly irrelevant tw@ts once and for all.

Just a liberal opinion for you to share………

    Chris.

PS: Can I have one for for “Jungle” and another one for those idiots who think they can sing as well? Might be some dosh left in the pot after the weekend……… 😆

The full list of Haynes manuals includes “The Dishwasher Manual”, “The Washer Dryer and Tumble Dryer Manual” and “The Electrical Appliance Manual”. Not sure what’s in that, though it has a picture of a vacuum cleaner and electric drill on the front.

“Performa 1100” is a generic description across various models of Hoover washing machines and will not help us help you. Please check the control panel of the appliance for something like “AC110” or similar.

Bear in mind that modern washers wash at far lower water levels than previously, so the fact that you can’t see water in the machine may not actually be a fault!

Please advise model and we can go from there.

    Woodfish,
I am pleased that your problem has been resolved.
However, please bear in mind that you HAVE just taken your life in your hands…..

For others reading this post please understand that UKWhitegoods does NOT recommend or condone that ANYONE attempt to repair gas appliances in ANY way WHATSOEVER. This should ALWAYS be left to a suitable CORGI registered service agent.

You have been warned and I for one will not be held responsible for any consequences resulting from the posters course of action.

F15 relates to the heater in the dryer part of your appliance. This is possibly the element, the control circuits or the computer board itself. There is no way to be absolutely sure without test equipment; if you are unable to do this safely yourself please have a look in the Directories section, and see if there is a UKW engineer in your area; failing that pop your postcode up and soeone will pick up on it.

Do nothing yourself without pulling the plug first.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

Bear in mind that you are working on a gas appliance – you are NOT qualified. We would not recommend even altering the electrics!

Please get professional help – if you must have a go, cut electrical power before doing anything.

The programme unit is probably still available, Dave Conway may be able to advise in the morning.

Model number and Serial number, please. Check around edge of door or casing, otherwise it’s the same as asking for a handle for a Ford – no chance!
