ParticipantHey Valvo,
You’re back! How’s the Bosch going?Look, most of these motors will come apart if you’re brave enough – tie bolts through the field coils is a common method of construction, as are long rivets (drill time). However, be advised that most of these motors are made to cost, so while the suction fan may be bolted on, the cooling fan is probably an interference push fit, and the top bearing is likely to be a phosphour bronze bush. Might be worth a trip to the local bearing/transmission factors; certainly no parts will be available from Nilfisk.
If you get it all apart and can do something about the dodgy bearing, do all the job and sort out some carbon brushes at the same time. The fun bit is to get the armature back in while keeping the brushes out of the way!

ParticipantHi Ej,
I take it your intervention was at 128? Over on the right?Been an interesting thread. We independents have rather got used to the idea of the total collapse of Merloni washers at an early age; the dishwasher is a rather different matter – the SMEG machines are generally good quality products.
That said, they have a known problem with water level control, which can lead to an interesting array of faults, ranging from no fill, no heat, circulating without water, hanging in the programme (timer fault? No!) and more.
Once the machine is out of the housing the repair takes 10 minutes and 9 times out of 10 no parts are required!
Just to complete the thread, I’d be interested to know what the symptons were!

ParticipantSmell – wun’t me – Penguins tend to be a bit fishy..
Photo – me and Del lurking by the window – stopping the worthy Conway falling out of it……..
NONE of us were caring by that point (except as to Dave’s ability to bounce……..).

ParticipantHi D-E,
What you say is true up to a point, but consider the working of any club. All work on a 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} rule – ie 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of any given membership will “do”, the other 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} will enjoy the benefits of their labour. It was ever thus, and will probably be so for ever!Bear in mind that our trade colleagues also have UKW membership priviledges and the assembled goup at the weekend was just about – – – -10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}!
Considering the youthful nature of UKW (15 months) progress to date has been spectacular. Personally I wonder how many of the trade membership fully realise or appreciate the full scale of the group’s activities?
I joined looking for a bit of tech help, with absolutely no idea that there were things called work providers for instance – or some of the appalling things certain ones got up to!
It has certainly radically altered the way that I view our industry and how it will try to go forward. That said, there will be members whose needs from this site will always be simpler, bit of tech help, odd parts for strange machines and the like.
UKW will grow into a broad church of views, opinions, influence, offers, deals, work, comedians, grumps, watchers, doers, leaders etc.
If in a couple of years time the trade membership reaches 1000, I’ll lay money now that that meeting will have around 100 attending!
Your general point is absolutely sound though – Join – Subsribe – Participate!

ParticipantDavid, the rotors always turn freely when you push them round – check the jets at the end! They turn the rotors by water pressure and also sweep the soap/table out of the dispenser.

ParticipantDavid,
If the filters have actually broken, the rotors will almost certainly be partially choked, especially at the tips. Strip and clean.Dave Conway will able to sort your parts out on Monday.

ParticipantGlad to hear it Oofus. There is an issue with these multi-use tablets.
1) All dishwashers have different programme timing, sequences and water usage. Someone tell me how a tablet can dissolve and dispense at a rate to suit ALL machines!2) Salt MUST be in the salt chamber to be of any use at all. This a separate water system, and not directly connected to the circulation system.
3) Rinse aid is specifically dispensed as part of the last rinse, in a metered dose to suit your waters characteristics. A big lump left on the bottom of the machine may (or may not!) dissolve sufficiently to cause the water to drop off your plates. It is worth bearing in mind that the dishwasher does NOT dry your plates. Rinse aid destroys water’s surface tension, causing it to fall off the crockery.
We would SERIOUSLY recommend that ALL dishwasher users revert to using powder, salt and rinse aid separately in their machines, as the manufacturers originally designed.
Personally, I think that the soap manufacturers have run a huge campaign to plug their tablets and it is little more than a con. If you think the above post through, it is obvious!
