ParticipantBit cheap and cheerful IME, but decent enough for the money. Parts quite reasonable if required.

ParticipantWe’ve already GOT one or two in the Trade Forums who seem to be learning the job on (our) site! I suppose it depends how honest the applicant is with his info. Copy of Public Liability as some sort of verification maybe? It’ll have a company/business name on it at least.
One rather selfish point – what’s in it for us? If we get some sort of “quid pro quo” out of it, fair enough – could always do with a cheap fix to the telly!
Yours in the cause of spherical objects,

ParticipantBit of a moot point this; how related to whitegoods does a trade have to be, to be relevant?
There must be a case for starting “UKBrowngoods” for instance, and we’ve already seen the Gas lads getting going on their own. Or, “UKTrades” and splitting into sections within!
“Associated Trade Forum” perhaps for the moment?
Chris.

ParticipantYup, did one on a range today, customer happy enough – left the neutral on the clock so the time works.
Mothers Creda DBIO is 25 years old, and I don’t think she’s EVER tried to set the timer! Hmm – might still work then……

ParticipantJTM were based in Leeds and held agencies for Candy and Miele Commercial a few years back. Haven’t heard from then for a while, though the unit is still there in Stanningley as I go by. John was the local DASA man then, but I didn’t join.

ParticipantGot to be a little bit obvious that one, hasn’t it? The clock unit has failed – probably the “kicker” in the synchronous motor failed (being an AC circuit, the motor can run either way – the “kicker” kicks it in the right direction!). If you can put up the model number of your machine (01- ……… or 02- …. )
DC will be able to price it up for you.Regards,

ParticipantIIRC, one revolution and stop is usually no motor speed control detected. Can be tacho circuit failure, usually board fault.

ParticipantGot a scrap “big door” one – is it the same spring? If it is you’/re welcome to it!

ParticipantHi Ian,
Take heart, if it only leaks on the drying cycle, the fault must lie above the waterline! Therefore it is likely to be straightforward – a weeping internal hose or the dryer housing not sealing properly would be the the most likely culprit.Given the cost of replacement of this appliance with one of similar quality it would definitely be worth getting an engineer to solve your problem!
If you don’t want company service, check the Directories section for your postcode, or post it up here and someone will pick up on it.

ParticipantSounds like the safety cut-out doing its job. You have either a temperature control problem, or possibly an earth leakage problem on the fan oven element.
If you are not ABSOLUTELY sure what you are doing, I’d get an engineer to have a look at it. Either look in the Directories section for an engineer in your area, or stick you post code up here and someone will contact you.
Anyway, PTPF – pull the plug first.
