Check the short rubber hose the bottom of the condenser housing while you’re at it – it blocks regularly.

The safety fuse operating will only kill heat from the dryer – it will not cause the machine to stop functioning altogether!

    David,
If you have checked the obvious, all that is really left in the on/off circuit is the timer unit itself. Check the connectors at the front row of the timer – these are the live and neutral on/off switches. Any burning signs and it’s time for a new one.

    Pull the plug first!

    Rob,
You can get recon digiboards, thermistors aren’t too dear, compressor job is horrendous!

Bear in mind that Bosch gear is upper mid range for quality, so probably worth getting checked out.
Check in Directories to see if there’s a UKW engineer in your area; failing that stick it up in here and someone will pick up on it.

    Dear Uncle Kenneth,
Do we get a wee peek, now that you’ve done it?
I promise not to peck the kitchen fitters…

    Rob,
dThis is a single compressor fridge freezer, with a digital control board. TBH there are too many variables to give any sort of diagnosis – faults could range from digiboard, thermistors, compressor, start circuits – just about anything.

Engineer time I suspect. Check the Directories section for a UKW engineer in your postcode area, or stick it up in here, and someone will pick up on it.

Buy a reputable brand Tim, not supermarket own label. Better still, go back to separates – powder, rinseaid and salt. You then have far more control over the machine’s washing functions.

    Hi,
F8 is some sort of heat fault, probably related to the computer board.

Time for an engineer I suspect. Have a look in the Directories section or pop your postcode up in here and someone will pick up on it.

    Tim,
Basics first – no-one’s put washing up liquid in, have they? Infamous and spectacular frothing problems! Next, filters and rotors are completely clear? Not using alledgedly “ecofriendly” products?
Assuming “No”, bit difficult to be absolutely sure what fault may be. Excessive quantities of rinse-aid can cause frothing problems, especially if machine is struggling to drain properly – check drain coupling if plumbed out under sink.

All else failing, clean the thing out. A couple of empty, no powder runs may flush it clean; failing that, lemon juice is good or a proprietary cleaning agent might do it.

Understand that the door seal does not make a “hermetic” seal in the way that a washing machine door does, the door and seal act more as a deflector to bounce the water back into the machine.

There’s a few points for you to consider; see how you go! If you’re not winning, look in the Directories for a local UKW engineer, or pop your post code up here and someone will get back to you.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

Sorry chaps, I confess that the first thing I do when I get home, even before kissing the wife, is to turn the damn phone off! There’s at least 15.000 customers round Leeds with that number and I will NOT be goig out at 2am! Fastest way of getting me is through Julia’s eMail – julia.chantrell@ntlworld.com – she’s generally online. Take the point though, will see about a “private phone” on Monday. The current number is 07767 822624 during working hours.

    “UKB” – should have known.
Are you suggesting we might run a forum for related trades and “drop” relevant threads into it as and when, in addition to threads which evolve within the forum? Could get mighty complex. Not only that but the iniquities perpetrated by kitchen fitters ensures they’re all going straight down IMHO, and I would have a problem keeping the old beak shut!

    Still, progress and all.

    Chris.
