You think you’ve got problems……… Penguins ARE identical – have you seen that picture Martin put up? Apparently young penguins are incapable of sexing partners and do literally bonk at random until a “suitable” response is encountered. If I WAS stressed I’d be able to tell them apart!
So obviously two very nice dolphins, I think I met the one on the right in MacDonalds a week or so back – a BigDolf?

The inmates are obviously taking over the asylum.

There are no weapons of mass destruction and the Americans are not in the streets of Bagdhad……..

Besides when the electolyte goes in a metal cased capacitor it explodes and then it takes ages to get the silver foil out of the machines! Remember the old Hoover metal can suppressors?

If the timer is obsolete bear in mind that QER at Workington offer a repair service to most electronic cooker timers. I think there’s a link in the database somewhere.

Thought so K, but you’ve got to ask….
I take it these are 300mm units with the controls at the front, 2 rings per unit?

Years ago I had a mate who worked for a stainless steel fabrication firm and used to make BEAUTIFUL filler/surround pieces. Customers used to be more pleased with the surround than the new appliance!

Why do you need to be top of the list with a company trying to attract business within a 50 mile (say) radius?

Surely you need to be top – in Somerset?

What you’re describing is a statistical analysis based on a “standard distribution curve”. The life of each component has to fall within the limits chosen – typically 95 – 98{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} “confidence limit”. This is obviously designed to ensure that components should reasonably survive the first year; typically the peak of the distribution curve will be about 3 years down the line, ie maximum risk of component failure will be at that approximate time.

However, this assumes that the machine is used according to the “model usage plan”. Which is, of course, rubbish. The plan says 4 wash loads a week, similar for drying and so forth. Well, we all know what happens next, don’t we? People with big families in straitened circumstances buy cheap machines, which get pounded and therefore don’t fit the model………

They will also stuff the tumble dryer as full as possible, thus causing the capacitor to operate for longer (especially on a reverser), gets hot, produces black worms.

There rests the case for the prosecution, M’lud.

East Driffield College in N. Yorks offer a vocational course in appliance service; there is also Graham Dixon in Hull who does private courses. He also wrote a very funny book.
