Now it is all classroom based.ACS cracked me up.
How can you fail a 4 answer multiple choice exam with 4 attemps.
I had to ask the examming if I was goin mad.
Each time you`d go up to the guy, he`d mark whether your correct or not, you then go back and re choose one of the remaining 3 answers, get that wrong and go back and choose one of the remaining 2, get that wrong, go back choose the remaining 1, get that wrong.
Shoot yourselve :rolls:
Its a mad mad world. :rolls:
Yeah, It’s multiple choice but you only get 1 shot at each answer now as It’s direct online to C&G – Just thought you’d like to know. 😳

There is no such thing as a Spark, its a slang word to describe a person working on the electric`s of a property.
They simple have a different qualification, not better or worse.
I work on appliances.
I have a qualification in Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.
The Domestic Electrical Installer Qualification DI01: Domestic Electrical Installer Training Course .
This course is suitable for those persons carrying out electrical work in dwellings who have no formal qualifications and seek to register to self certify their work to meet the requirements of the Building Regulations.
Is only 4 and a half days. 😆
The Building Regulations for Domestic Electrical Installations course to level P is only 1/2 a day. With a 40 minute exam to gain C&G level 3 qualification.
Even to gain Gas Safety registered from nothing to qualified takes around 28 weeks.
So 2 years seems a bit long for a semi qualified Spark. ❓
Not if it’s a C&G 2330 it isn’t – Now, I didn’t comment to cause a stir just a bit annoyed that I go to night school for the last 2 years & I wouldn’t dream of calling myself a qualified electrician until I can Inspect & Test my own installs – I’m not arguing about the length of time it takes to do the exams/courses or whatever you want to call them but I do object when someone claims they are a qualified electrician after only 5 days !? – Oh & BTW Brian I used to work for BG – I have seen 1st hand what we used to do or were asked to do !

managers now running around finding out if the 5 day home electrics course you go on is adequate??
personally i didnt think it was enough ..trying to cram in what would take a fully qualified spark years into 5 days..
its a wonder they have got this far without incident
wonder if their customers know its a white goods engineer who has been on a 5 day course and not a fully qualified electrician they get when they take out home electrics.
when i was their if 1st engineer couldnt fix problem they will then send one of their 2nd line fully qualified electrician
but whitegoods engineer was 1st choice as there was more of them and could respond quicker..may be time for this to be looked into..
fb
I was wondering how long this would take as it’s been a ticking time bomb for years ! Customers do seem to accept that an engineer is not at a qualified sparks – don’t quite understand why? but there you go !
In approx 10 months I WILL be a qualified Sparks – It does make me laugh how they seem to think that you can be anywhere near qualified to install C/Units & add to existing circuits both willy & nilly !!! It’s taken me 2 years to become semi-qualified so what makes them think that you can be a sparks in 5 days ??? Grrrrrr – Makes my blood boil !!! 👿
As I said – This was a long time coming if true !

Funnily enough I’m very rarely ill – I think it’s because I do this job that my Immune system must be “well ‘ard”. 😛

I’d go for the heater too as it’s seems to get passed the fill then looking to heat – No heat = Abort cycle 😉

ParticipantRe: How the ****did that get in there
I rememeber having to rummage around a sump hose looking for a small key that had found it’s way into the drum (WFF2001GB) only to find a horrible load of sludge blocking the hose – you can imagine my disgust when the lady of the house said “I’ll apologise now for my husbands incontinance” I was rummaging around in SH*T !!! Makes me shudder even now & that was 6 years ago !!! 👿

I know what u mean but i don’t see how going back to the same machine many times in a year or two actually looks good for business… wether it be a different fault or not?
Just my way of thinking but yes u are also right in what you are saying….
But then again we all have or seem to have a gripe about low end products and the enviroment etc?Don’t we all do our upmost for our customers then ?
I’m not saying it looks good going back time & time again to a machine – The customer bought a cheap machine – Thats their look-out ?
I get the same customers calling me up to repair their w/m, d/w etc because i get it fixed for them – Not because of the reliability issues of the appliance & I always put a 3 month warranty on any parts fitted.I think you may have taken my post slightly out of context as it was a tongue in cheek post ! 😉

Andy.
Trouble is Andy, If things lasted as long as that we’d all be fighting each other for the work – more so than we are at the moment !
Good old “*******” (insert manufacturers name here) for their reliability issues !!! Hooray for piles of cheap rubbish ! 😈 😈 😈

ParticipantRe: Masterpart gets a ticking off
I dunno – I’ve tried to order a small 145 hotplate for a zanussi hob & at £3.50 a snip at the price for a pattern one !
Asked if they were in stock & the reply was yes – Only 1 hotplate arrived (should be 2) when I asked them when they’ll have them in they said 17 days !!! Not the 1st time I’ve been let down by them. 🙁The customer won’t wait that long !!! So called Qualtex – Turned up this morning ! Happy Days ! 😛

I also am looking forward to meeting John & having a look at the ISE machines, It might take me back to my Bosch years re:reliability !
Really am excited about these, however I share the same fear that maybe not enough sold here to warrant many calls ?
Still excited though 😈

ParticipantRe: Quality Tamperproof Torx/Security Torx bit sets
Probably a bit of a silly question but hasd anyone tried “Easy-Outs” or “Stud Removers” on these little beuties ? – They have a reverse thread that can be “tapped” into the screw so you have more purchase on the bolt !
Just a thought ! 😈
