    Re: Look at what you’re missing

    I repair tumble dryers, and I am CORGI reg , but if I search for myself to find someone to repair a gas dryer in my area, no one is listed.

    How can I edit my own details?

    as the agitator fits over the splines it doesnt need to be removed to chcck the gear box, just grab hold of the lower half

    After the motor has turned in wash direction you should not be able to move the agi by hand.

    After the motor has turned in the spin direction and pumped out the water, and taken the brake off, the agi is free to turn by hand. (otherwise the machine would try to agitate on spin and rip the clothing)

    So turning the agi by hand is of no use to check a spin problem

    I seem to recall on some early Candy machines that you couldn’t push the door release button unless you turned it off with the on/off switch.

    Re: recons

    30 years ago I used to recon autos and twin tubs. I would fit all new trims, knobs, hoses, facia’s, pumps, etc, and give a 12 month guarantee. We would also have all the cabinets completely resprayed at a local car resprayer. It made the machines look like new, and we couldn’t keep up with demand. Happy days.

    You could ring Miele direct 01235 233133. They usually give 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to trade customers.

    I had my Parkray replaced 5 years ago with a Baxi gas back boiler and gas fire. The installer used the existing flue, pipework and radiators, so it was almost a straight swop. Although I do miss the constant heat of the Parkay.

    Re: Creda H050E Grill Simmerstat Wiring

    Thanks for the info aqualectric.
    As a point of interest the conections on the Diamond H simmerstat are
    2 = live
    4a = neutral
    P1 = load
    P2 = signal

    on the EGO simmerstat the conections are
    P1
    4
    2
    P2
    S1
    S2
    Pilot

    I couldn’t figure out which wire went where without a wiring conversion chart.

    Usually when the drive coupling is broken, the sympton is no spin and no agitation. A worn drive clutch will cause machine to spin slow p/n 481969018152. It is not too dificult to fit, and is available fron connect. Hope this helps.

    The centrifugal switch, or start switch, is screwed on top of the motor. It should click when the button is pushed. A wiring diagram is usually behind the control panel. The switch is available as a seperate item p/n 205131, from JLA 01422824444. If the switch accuator lever is the problem, it usually means a new motor. So, be certain of a faulty switch before you order one, as it is not a cheap part.

    Re: Maytag LAT9606GGE Buzz

    If you haven’t the correct test instrument to check the capacitor your only choice is trial and error and to try a new one. However a faulty capacitor is not very common. Another possibility is the centrifugal switch sticking. If the switch is faulty it is easily replaced. If the accuator lever is sticking it usually means a new motor.

    Some of the Maytag machines have capacitors on the motor, check this first. Does it run with the belt off? possible seized gearbox.

    Thanks for your comments. I have been on my own since May 06, and the medicare scheme seemed a good idea at the time. If it turns out to be worth while I will let you know.

    Re: Insulation Testing

    Most service manuals I have seen, state that you should do an insulation test both before and after a repair, (which I always do) It also stops the customer accussing me of causing a failed test. I usually issue a test certificate, as well as the customary sticker, to make a good impression. And it does.

    Re: Insulation Testing

    I have always tested between E and L/N , that was my query. I always test every appliance after a repair, to make certain it is safe for the customer, and to cover myself.

    Yes
    Unlike the green light pass, red light fail brigade, I use mine for actual readings, and fault finding, i.e. motors, heaters etc, down to earth. When someone else’s method’s are different to other’s, it doesnt make them wrong.
