ParticipantRe: comet…again!!!
I have sympathy with my local Comet branch which has a team of nice people running the store who actually understand what they sell, good old fashioned product knowledge, however the same cannot be said of my local Curry’s who are a right shower,if the hammer had to fall it should be on DSG. Maybe they will be next ?

ParticipantRe: Commercial Or Domestic Use?
This is somehow got completely focussed on ISE!
I see where your at with this Ken but this is a ISE related topic as started by you and I was merely providing my own experience were ISE appliances have been sold into a commercial setting as I described and the problems that can arise as outlined. I cannot imagine for a minute that the particular client I was referring to has not had any other issues since my involvement and if that is the case then its unlikely that they have got Joe Blogs down the road to come in a fix up their appliances. Whatever the case I did pursue them for payment to the point where it was evident that they had no intention of paying for the work they had received, the amount was small but the time given was not. To have pursued them for the money outstanding would have made no financial sense and would have alienated the customer from the ISE brand which is not the way forward.
On that basis it was decided to walk away from them which we were entitled to do.

ParticipantRe: Commercial Or Domestic Use?
Agreed Kenneth, however I had two Appliances situated in a Commercial setting namely a veterinary practice neither of which I had sold. Numerous calls ensued one where a complete Power Module was required due to the PCB housing being smashed and water leaking onto to it ! a Pump was also required due to excessive force of the users trying to tighten the filter, the leaking was due to the use of Supermarket Big Box Powder which they had beed advised not to use previously, that was all repaired under warranty, then a facia panel was broken on the same machine.
The dryer installed there had calls for cutting out and not drying.
Unable to prove that fault on TWO visits and as the premises was on the outer reach of my service area it was decided to bring the appliance into the workshop for extensive testing all of which showed the machine to operating without fault as claimed. The upshot was that we could not claim a warranty payment from ISE and was left to pursue the costs with the client. Needless to say we never got paid for the two visits or the interment to the workshop to test the clients claims to try and resolve the issue.
Dont get me wrong, I am not having a go but there are a number of dimensions to this discussion not least that at all times we always act in good faith where a client has purchased a ISE appliance even when it was not from us. Having not got paid by this business we stated that until our bill was paid we would not return to the premises which was backed up by ISE.

ParticipantRe: CURRYS KNOW HOW
Why try and invent the wheel ? The bods at Curry’s seem to have learnt nothing from their own previous efforts or those of others who were far more organised they the present lot.
Personally I think the whole Currys Business is a shambles from the showroom floors with staff many of whom are useless right through to the KNowNothing brigade.
I tell you there all doomed ! Captain Mannering

ParticipantRe: Greedy Whirlpool prices
I think we All need to be checking prices of everything we order, we need to be far more savy, only then will we see more realistic prices to us the trade. This is easier than ever now and between the manufacturers jacking prices along with the wholesalers at it they are doing a lot of damage to our trade.

ParticipantRe: ariston door seal pliers ?
As a footnote to this: I remember the first time I saw this clamp arrangement, I was at a house and the woman had a brat of a boy in residence, me struggling with this clamp without the aid of pliers or Zanussi Spring, working away to see how this clamp worked the woman took the brat into another room as he was out of control and being a PITA. Hands into the porthole with seal tucked in struggling the Brat boy kept running out of the room along the hallway and at the entrance to where I was trying to work kept shouting bang making gestures of holding a imaginary gun ! At first I tried to humour the little brat but that wasnt working, then I tried to ignore him, that did not work, I then asked the parent if they could try and occupy the lad while I got on as it was somewhat distracting trying to work while he kept running and shouting Bang ! Bang ! more or less in my ears !
This did’nt work either, mother had no control at all over the brat, getting very P*****d off with this and still struggling with this clamp the little brat was creeping along the hallway towards me waiting for this chance to give me more hassle, as he approached I lost it ! turned on him and in a VERY loud voice shouted Bang Bang ! Your Dead !
He took one look and burst into tears ! the woman came out of the room and I said Oh Dear dose’nt look like he wants to play soldiers anymore perhaps he needs a little sleep !
That got rid of him so I could get on !

PGS wrote:What are the charges for Handypay Squad ?
It depends on your transaction levels and the splits of what kind of payments you take. I was using Barclaycard Merchant Services before, they started increasing their charges to me, so I looked at several companies to see if I could reduce the card handling costs.
What I found with Handepay was that we are saving approx £ 360.00 per annum by changing to them, so having been with them for 18 months now I am somewhat better off, customer service is good and its worth getting a quote from them which will not cost you a bean !

ParticipantRe: ariston door seal pliers ?
Couple of points with this, I ended up getting hold of a pair of very long nose pliers, I then fashioned the profiles to reach into the clamp at 3 o’clock with the door seal folded into the drum and the machine lent backwards under the worktop if there is one. The arms of the pliers needed to be ground down to suit the lug holes on the clamp and this tool can then be used to remove and refit this rotten type clamp. If you do not want to fit the clamp back on you can use a Zanussi type spring clamp which fits very tightly
Once you have done one or two its not a epic ! 🙂

ParticipantRe: Indesit Modules Configured ? ? ?
Mm ! Just checked with Hotpoint and it turns out that the part number of C00280798 is listed as Programmed.
So it appears I have missed something in the diagnosis department here, machine passes Insulation Tests, Motor checks out as do all the other components, one thing about this is that there is another light on the Top Facia board which serves no function user wise and is concealed from the users view under normal use. But this light is also flashing ?
Anyone had this before or have a clue ?

ParticipantRe: PLI Costs
Martin I of course realise that if Heat or Gas is involved then the risk changes as does the costs. I should have made it clear that I was seeking the costs without those elements present.

ParticipantRe: Liquitabs Alert
It never ceases to amaze me the lack of parenting skills ! We all KNOW that things like detergents, bleach’s, surface cleaners, window cleaner and the like are NOT for ingestion, like medicines ?
So as a parent you keep or prevent little ones from access to all of these surely?
Then we find that the media are announcing that these things are dangerous and suddenly its the manufacturers being questioned, we had one stupid customer call this morning asking if we knew if these were dangerous and should she buy them !
I Give Up !
