Something else to look out for that if this model has a Jug Impeller Flow Meter then this may be the cause of your trouble.

    Re: ISE Website & Videos

Thats it Ken, I would download the videos and convert the format ready for use on my Nexus 7 Tablet, Most of the ISE sales I have done have been done purely from my description of the Appliances, Features, Ethos, and Warranty. It can be hard for some people to gain sales without a customer ever seeing what they are buying but that said I have never let that get in my way. With the advent of this idea I can have those videos at my disposal and during a conversation with a customer there will come a point where I can introduce the video to whatever appliance. I see this a a valuable edition for those who wish to use them and they can also be used in store as well as in the field.

Well done Ken, You might make a Hollywood Yet ! seriously though these types of video are a great way of imparting a lot of knowledge and features in a short space of time, a brochure is one this, these are another. I can see myself having these on my tablet ready to show a customer in their own home !

    Keep em coming !

    Re: Getting more work?

Letting Agents good source of work as a top up, you’ll more likely wait to get paid a month or two, There always seems to be someone else who will work for less, always an enticement for the letting agent who thinks he can save money, Agree with the advertising and as much as you can afford, I will PM you something that might interest you as soon as I get the time. Always give a good service and get things fixed asap, sounds obvious that one but when we had someone who approached a couple of our letting agents and who said he could do it all much cheaper, it transpired he started making all manner of mistakes, Tenant’s kept waiting, a couple of cock ups like a torn floor and damaged worktop.

Anyway after the letting agents got the measure of that they came back and we started working for them again, it happens and could happen again. Never put all your eggs in one basket either, diversity is the name of the game !

If large companies with sales and marketing professionals are struggling, which they are, and of course big companies going down, 10’200 job losses just this last week its no wonder things filter through into our trade.

The last thing this trade needs is engineers starting to undercut and do free call outs.

    Re: Did you Megger it…..?????

As daft as it sounds I cannot imagine life without my Megger, when I served my time it was mandatory to use the Megger before and after a repair and that has lived on with me. Not only has it lived on it has so many times steered me to the source of the problem which without a megger you would not have found.

I have lost count of the number of engineers who do not even own such a piece of equipment and rely on a Multitester for such tasks ! or the stock answer that ” well I have never really needed one ! or Oh One of them things ! their a load of bother cause if you get a earth problem you could be there hours trying to find it !

I kid you not I have come into contact with such individuals and it beggers belief that they operate like this, No its not a legal requirement but extremely good practice on the engineers part to perform such tests.

Flash is widely used still even though Apple and Google want to see the back of it. A number of Trade Sites use Flash and the latest version of Android 4.2.1 do not support it. Maybe if you need 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} compatibility then a notebook running Windows XP is the way, I was using that setup but now a have a Nexus 7, whilst its limited some sites those sites tend to be ones I use now and then and access to those can usually wait until I am back in front of a windows machine.

The portability of a Tablet, Instant start up, small footprint make the tablet much more manageable .

Thanks both of you for your input, I never imagined it would be a big earner but as a filler it could be useful bearing in mind it could facilitate other leads or vice versa. We have had a number of enquires asking if we rent machines like this so it could be useful

    Re: Samsung Galaxy tab

Being a apple fan myself I found myself hovering wanting a ipad or ipad mini, after all it would make so much sense, would’nt it ?

Think again, having spent a lot of time looking, reading, handling and playing with all the tablets on the market, vis last two weeks, it became a no brainer, of course it was the Nexus 7 32 GB android tablet. for starters the screen resolution puts the ipad 2 and ipad mini in the backseat, for the money I cannot see how you could better it, now with 3G HSDPA, for the mobile engineer its a dream, far better than the largest smartphones but not as big as as 10 inch tablet. The Samsung tablets are clunky in comparison and the Nexus syncs up with all Google, calenders, email, maps ( yes you wont find southhampton in the middle of the solent, Cloud storage and whilst some of the apps need refining I cannot see anything that you can do on a apple tab that you can’t do on the Nexus especially running Jellybean 4.2 or 4.1.2 .
Google are also selling a million Nexus 7s monthly and have ordered further shipments from Asus. Who said a 7″ tablet would not work or be a sound business move ? this tablet has upset the market and if the truths known I bet Apple wish the Nexus 7 had failed.

Re: Whats the best folding truck trolley

The best folding truck I have found was by accident, I am always moving stuff around and about three years back Wickes were selling foldup trolleys at about £45.00. They were stacked high my local branch, they seemed well made but I didnt want to pay nearly fifty quid for one! a few weeks later they were clearing them out at 25.00 so I went a bought one, so impressed with the quality I went back and another two. In the three years I am still on trolley No 1 ! its moved many a washer and no end of other gear and shows little sign of wear.

Call me jaded, But ! Currys offering Comet Staff jobs is great if it is genuine, having considered though that the quicker Comets are taken off the board leading up to the Christmas period means that DSG have a better chance of mopping up sales as without staff Comet will find it even more difficult to run.
